About Me
Hi, my name is Amy :)
I'm interested in everything- which means I'm not an expert in anything! But it also means I'm ready for whatever new, exciting, interesting, funny, silly, adventurous thing which comes my way.
I've lived half my life in Canada and half in Australia. I adore the snow, but also enjoy the hot humid Aussie summer! I live my life trying to find a work/life balance, and finding my way with gratitude and happiness :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really want to meet new people when I travel and get to experience some of their day to day lives. I believe travelling is not just about a holiday but more about experiencing different cultures, customs and ways of living.
I would love to go out to your favourite place to eat or try what you eat for breakfast. I'd like to have the experience of living there and doing local as well as local tourist attractions and nature walks.
Interests
Enjoy too much to list, and really love hearing about other peoples interests because there is so much going on around the world.
Have been volunteering at festivals, camping, dancing and swimming my way around Australia; some of my favourite activities while on the road.
- learning new things
- good conversation
- delicious food
- having fun
- learning about other cultures
Music, Movies, and Books
Nowadays I barely get to the movies ~but once upon a time there was a year while I was studying that I saved my cinema tickets and counted 104 movies! Comedy, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, anime, romance, drama, documentary, action, historical, bollywood, musical, foriegn films. (No horror! Except for maybe funny zombie movies).
There are movies I watch over again but I am indecisive and cannot narrow it down to a favourite ;)
I like catchy tunes! I grew up listening to my grandparents play Elvis and country music. I'm a fan of light hearted pop music and most of what the 60's to 90's had to offer. Live music is the best music, when you get to experience the atmosphere and emmerse yourself in a song with friends old and new. Whether it is a full orchestra or a single guitar, spending the time to listen and dance to music gives me joy.
Books! My favourite authors, that even when I reread I still enjoy them. Tamara Peirce, John Flanagan, Matthew Rielly, Rosamunde Pilcher. When I sit down to a book I like to be whisked away to adventurous, magical lands and daydream :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been a part of so many amazing people's lives and had the chance to get to know them. Hearing friends hopes, dreams, fears and realities.
Teach, Learn, Share
Listening to stories and experiences is the best way for me to both learn and teach :)
I am a vinyasa yoga instructor and happy to be a yoga partner. Or check posture alignments to start you off on a safe home practice :)
I'm also an Intuitive Balinese massage therapist, occasionally even travel with my massage table!
What I Can Share with Hosts
A friendly chat in English, a listening ear for stories and you can beat me at a game of chess because I'm just learning! I enjoy cooking and my vegan ginger scones are a crowd favorite.
