About Me
Hello! My name is Amy and I am currently staying in Brazil for an unknown amount of time. I started my time here by working on a WWOOF farm for two months, followed by some traveling, a helpX stay, and now I have to decide what to do after that! I hope to find a job teaching English (I am TEFL certified) and be able to stay in Brazil for an extended amount of time. I love the beauty and laid back culture here. I want to see it all, explore more of South America, and meet some more great people along the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have never tried Couchsurfing but have heard great things about it from friends. I like that I am given the opportunity to meet a local and experience the place I am traveling to in an authentic way. It can be daunting to know what to spend your time on while visiting a city. And a personal connection is always better than a travel book. In my time in South America I may be traveling on my own, which seems terrifying, so I hope to meet some people that will make it more comfortable. When I return to the states I hope to start hosting people as a way to pay it forward.
Interests
Besides traveling, I am interested in gardening, hiking, reading, yoga, and studying Portuguese. In my free time I also like to attempt to cook (I want to learn more), drink beer, try new restaurants, and just relax outside with good friends. I am always open to new experiences too, I like camping and other outdoor activities.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste varies a lot, I love the beats of samba, reggae, merengue, and forro. But I also love jazz, hip hop, soul, and blues.
I'm not a huge movie person, but I tend like funny movies or historical movies. I love the TV series "The Wire."
I read anything I can. The past couple books I have read are: Brazil On The Rise, Bahia Blues, and The Hundred Foot Journey. A very life changing book for me was "Assata."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I can't say it's ONE amazing thing, but I have seen a lot of beautiful and interesting places in my young life! I am so grateful for the experiences I have had, and consider the memories the most amazing part of my life :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I really want to learn Portuguese! That is my number one goal for my time in Brazil!
I can teach people more about gardening if they want! I cannot claim to be an expert but I think I could lend a hand to a newbie :)
