About Me

My name is Amy and I currently live in Cork, Ireland. I have previously lived in California and Copenhagen (Denmark), and enjoy traveling and meeting people from all over the world. I work in molecular virology and love to dance, eat and get outside in the great outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope to meet like minded people who enjoy culturally diverse environments and cooking together. I want to see different parts of the world through my hosts eyes and hopefully give my visitors an insight into Irish culture. I love being a tour guide, especially if its involves food.

Interests

I have been dancing nearly all of my life, though I am and will remain an amateur- In university I managed a Dance society and won competitions at national level in Ireland.

I am avid reader and read anything I can get my hands on. I enjoy classical literature all the way to politics, fantasy and sci-fi.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music currently is Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, Christine and the Queens, Tom Rosenthal and Lisa Hannigan. I like chill rock, indie rock, folk music and trad.

Movies; thrillers, never horror films. Amongst my favourites, I would list The Stoning of Soraya M, Ginger and Rosa, LOTR, Gone Girl, Blue is the warmest colour and The Sound of Music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The strangest thing I have done is to work as wizard teaching French children English through Harry Potter. My name was Mildred Merriweather for 3 weeks.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn, everything. Language, culture, politics, everything

I would love to share some great conversations over wine and cheese or a meal cooked together. I make an amazing Guinness Beef stew and hope to pick up some recipes from my guests and my travels.

I can teach you some ballet or a little Irish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share an enthusiasm for travel, my wanderlust and fantastic tour guide skills.
