About Me

I'm originally from the North of England - a town called Middlesbrough.

I did my undergraduate degree at the University of York so I know York and Yorkshire very well (best place to visit in England in my opinion :D).

I spent 5 years in Glasgow doing a PhD and working as a research assistant at the University of Glasgow. Scotland is incredible and I'm ashamed that I didn't take full advantage of exploring it when I lived there.

I have been living in and exploring Rio de Janeiro since June 2016, so I think I know this city better than most cariocas :P

I've travelled a lot within Brazil, tell me where I should definitely visit in South America (and what I should definitely eat there)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting new people. I've been told that I am very easy to understand (in terms of speed and accent). Send me a message if you'd like to meet up for a drink and a chat, or if you have any questions about York, Glasgow, the UK, British awkwardness/weirdness.

I like to put public trips on Couchsurfing for each place I visit and I am overwhelmed with the response :) I try to reply to as many messages as I can.

Interests

I love Brazil (especially the food) and I'm currently learning Portuguese.

I love to help people out and give tours of the places/cities I love.

Instagramming beautiful places, of course haha.

Music, Movies, and Books

If I hear a song I know I have to sing along - power ballads are my favourite.

TV series I like at the moment: Game of Thrones, How To Get Away With Murder, Outlander, Supernatural, Black Mirror, Catfish and Catfish Brasil, true crime documentaries, and silly reality shows.

I love 80s and horror films.
