We are Joel and Amy Perez. We have been together for 11 years, and celebrated our 6th year wedding anniversary in June 2018. We do not have kids, but we do have two cats that are staying with a friend while we travel the world.

Over the last several years, we have been on a spiritual journey and learning how to be in our heart instead of our mind. This process has led us to leave our jobs, sell our condo, our cars, and most other material things. The rest of our life is in a 10x10 storage unit and in our backpacks as we set out to travel the world to experience all that life has to offer.

We love traveling and experiencing new cultures. For fun, we love to play card games (especially poker!), golf, tennis, and wherever we can find it we love to go snorkeling. We are very open and ready to try almost anything.

We want to experience as much as we can on our journey. We do recognize that we won't enjoy some things but there is no better way to know than try!

Our friends who have done couchsurfing recommended it as a great way to meet people and experience local culture. The idea of staying in a hotel and just being a tourist is not really our thing. We love learning from everyone we meet. The idea of exposure to new cultures and experiences greatly excites us and is the primary reason for our travel.

Amy - I did the skeleton at the Whistler Sliding Center where the Vancouver 2010 Olympics were held. The skeleton is where you go head first on a sled down an ice chute with winding turns. My face was 5 inches from the track and I tightened up my gluts to make sure my feet didn't drag on the ice. The first run was intense, and I was pretty scared going 70 mph through the last turn and tensed up, which you're not supposed to do (imagine that! Just relax!!!) so I subsequently ping ponged up the end of the track, bruising both legs pretty good. The second run was much better, and I finished the ride smoothly. The whole experience was absolutely exhilarating. I love a good adrenaline rush. :)

Joel - Golf - Taking 7th in the 2017 Rocky Mountain Open shooting -2 through 54 holes. Having a bogey-free round of golf in the 2016 Colorado Western Chapter Championship.
Ultimately the most amazing thing I've done is to give up on the great job that I enjoyed. Sold and gave away most of my possessions after 33 years and left the life I've built and loved to experience the unknown.

Teach: My husband and I have done urban gardening using hydroponics and would be happy to share this knowledge and help you build your own urban garden! I also am a good golfer and tennis player and can share my knowledge in these areas.
Learn: I'm open to learning anything! I am very interested in culture and how others view the world. I am also working on learning Spanish.

Joel -
Teach: Technology - I was an IT professional and can teach most all technical subjects. I'm still learning programming but have many insights through 14 years in IT.
Crytocurrency - I have been studying the subject since 2012 and can provide valuable technical and philosophical information.
Golf - I am a scratch golfer who has given lessons previously.
Poker - I don't play professionally but one of my buddies I taught poker to won a World Series of Poker Bracelet.
Learn: I simply want to experience your culture and way of life! Bring me along for the ride, I'm ready for anything.
