About Me

I love humans, nature, music, stupid humor, and soaking up every worthwhile lesson or joy from life :) I'm a Roman Catholic, with a background in Buddhism - open mindedness is essential in my book, and philosophical discussions are welcome but not necessary. My love for languages and different cultures, especially all things French, Romanian, and Kiwi, grow daily.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Authentic travel should be accessible, and Couchsurfing is a mega cool gateway to achieve that. I want to help others meet their travel dreams, and meet people in pursuit of my own. I love having fun with and learning from all kinds of people!

Interests

Reading, writing (journaling and lyrics), going to mass, hiking, camping, going to concerts, drinking whiskey, eating avocados, singing, dancing, exercising.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll save you time and avoid writing a book of favorites, but some highlights are:
Music. Shakey Graves, Lord Huron, the Beatles, Les Cowboys Fringants, Dakha Brakha, Cut Copy, Zella Day, Caveman, Guster.
Movies. No Country For Old Men, Tangled (and most children's movies), Finding Neverland, Un Homme et Une Femme, La Grande Illusion, Le Scaphandre et le Papillon. J'adore la nouvelle vague :)
Books. Tuck Everlasting, Ella Minnow Pea, The Story of French, A History of New Zealand, Night, Bartleby the Scrivener, Into Thin Air, Under the Banner of Heaven, Song of Songs.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to improve my French fluency, and learning Romanian has interested me for a long time. Any films, bands, bars, museums, restaurants, parks, instruments, and hikes you want to share would make my heart very happy!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My brain, and an appreciation for chocolate, movies, books, whiskey, and music.

I've taught French in the US and English in France, so languages are something I can teach. I'm fairly well-informed about various types of music, and can talk about performance, recording, and style all day if the occasion arises :) Philosophy is a big love of mine, and I have lots I would like to share, but even more I'd like to learn. I enjoy singing, especially with people who play instruments - alternative folk, rock, and indie rock are my favorites to sing.
