About Me

I'm passionate about improving myself and eager to learn about others' experiences. I love learning about psychology and making music. I am travelling with my family: my partner Miguel and my little son Cosmos (born in 2021).

I set off solo for a RTW trip and got locked down in New Zealand and ended up meeting my partner Miguel and having my son Cosmos. We travelled around New Zealand twice, the second time with Cosmos in a campervan. We've recently returned to Europe to visit friends and family (I'm from the UK and Miguel is Italian).

I'm a big fan of psychology and biology and used to teach these but found the education system wasn't where I wanted to be. I started performing on the street in Turin and feel like I've finally switched a light back on in myself! Singing and playing clarinet have really changed my view on life and meeting Miguel. For some of my singing and playing adventures you can see the band I played with in London: https://youtu.be/x4ulS1WTQm4 and my recent singing in Turin, Italy on Insta (ames.aroundtheworld).

We adore wildlife, the outdoors and physical challenges and our next South America adventure will be full of this! We love camping and prefer if it's wild. We're also vegetarian.

A bit about Miguel..his profile is here and references are also in the photos.

he's an artist- loves drawing, painting and above all learning new skills! He loves life and dreaming. He's a lucid dreamer who uses dreams to influence his art. He's a great cook, enthusiastic about meeting everyone and a great conversationist.

We want to question the 'rules' and live consciously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's much more interesting staying with local people, you can get to know an area better, get tips, share life experiences and obviously it's great to travel for longer term as it's cheaper!

Interests

Yoga, meditation, music, 🎵, animals, trying new things

I love having genuine conversations with local people and other travellers. I love meeting people from all walks of life. One thing I like about travelling is that sense of unease you get arriving somewhere you don't know and dont understand and challenging yourself to e.g. pick items from a shop that don't make sense (one particular memory is of green milk in Thailand...turns out it was melon milk and delicious!) You then get to a point with a place ..when you feel more comfortable again...then you move on. :-D and the whole process of pushing the edge of your comfort starts again. Travelling opens your mind! And you ride out the ups and downs!

Snorkelling over an amazing undersea crevasse in Croatia. Massive tuna fish deep below.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life experiences! Language, laughter! (psychology too!) Singing and playing clarinet. I'd love to play piano and guitar while on the road.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking! Good chat. cleaning up. Gardening. Basic campfire guitar and serenading you. I am travelling with Miguel and Cosmos! Miguel also has a couchsurfing profile with many more reviews. Cosmos is really a one of a kind infant with such light in his eyes and soul.
