Overview
About Me
I grew up in Cincinnati, daughter of an English father and a German mother, one of five siblings. Lucky enough to visit the father-and-motherlands a few times as a kid to see the rest of the family. The Black Forest is magical and England all over is always calling. I very much want to see Cornwall. I never went to university.... I've always loved violin and knew I wanted to teach, so I have training in that but not a degree. I love interacting with children through teaching, and also teach adults. I volunteered at the SPCA for awhile until getting badly bitten by a dog lol. But I love animals, and have a dog, Jack, a stripey masterpiece who is obsessed with stones and brings one into the house every day and kicks it under the sofa.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a street performer and I'd love to try playing in other cities to see if I'm missing out on something by staying here.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music taste constantly changes, but I love ABBA, Grieg and Bach, Debussy, Ray Lamontagne, Sia, The Killers. Lots of movies, Enchanted April, Simon Pegg stuff, shows like The Walking Dead, The Fall, Frasier, The IT Crowd, Wallender, The Office, How I Met Your Mother. Books, anything of the Bronte or Austen kind, Maeve Binchy, The Snow Goose by Paul Gallico.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived on the oldest ocean-going passenger ship for two years as a volunteer sort of missionary, traveling all over Oceana and Asia, working with local churches. I think about a particular 3-week period almost every day, when I got to go up a mountain in the Philippines and stay in a village surrounded by pine trees and high cold winds, and lemon trees and hibiscus flowers, children playing in a waterfall and ridges of mountains layered one behind another for miles. Leeches, watching a butchering :( , meeting the Iwak chief and eating rice for every single meal including thanksgiving day!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can give you a few lessons in violin if you are interested! I'm good at back massages too. We aren't hosting because our place is tiny, but maybe one day soon!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversation and laughs, and very basic cooking.
