About Me
Hi, I'm Amy! Im a transplant from the East Coast of the US and a Phoenician since July 2014. I love living in the southwest and am still exploring all it has to offer and welcome you to come explore with me! I would consider myself a student of life and a sponge for new experiences. I strive for balance between doing what I must do to be able to afford to do the things I want to do and I work hard at being the best me I can be. I have a zest for life and travel and meeting people and I'm excited to be new to Couchsurfing!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love so many things about meeting people and I think the concept of a community of people sharing space with strangers is really cool. I think we all have so much to learn from one another and so much to share and what a great avenue to come together, welcoming one another into our homes. I'm very social by nature, I love having company and being a host and Couchsurfing just seems a natural fit!
Interests
I love music, craft beer, scotch, eating out, listening to/seeing music, being active and social. I'm currently very interested in sustainable living, the tiny house movement, the concept of financial independence, maximizing opportunities for travel and continuously finding ways to enhance my life experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
My heart belongs to Phish. I've been a fan since my teens and have seen them many times over the years. I have a real community of friends who travel together to see the band several times a year and these are some of the most special people in my life.
Im a huge fan of music and spend a fair amount of my free time and travel time seeing music or traveling to see music. I have diverse musical interests but my favorite genres are jam, bluegrass, funk, jazz...and...Phish!
Movies and TV aren't a true passion for me so I can't really name any heartfelt favorites. (If TV is your thing however, I do have bunny ears for local stations and several streaming subscriptions).
I'm not a terribly avid reader of books these days but I do enjoy maybe a dozen a year. I enjoy travel books - fiction or non. I've read a lot of John Steinbeck and always consider him to be a favorite of mine. In terms of more spiritual books, Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke and the poetry of Khalil Gibran are long time loves.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recently, sledding the sand dunes at White Sands National Monument in New Mexico.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am on this life journey to learn and share and if my experience can teach anyone anything along the way, I welcome that too! Personal growth is important to me and I want to feel like I'm constantly evolving as a person. I'm most attracted to these qualities in other human beings as well. We can gain so much from sharing with one another. That's why Couchsurfing excites me!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Currently, I have a very comfortable couch in the living room which is why I'm only offering to host on weekends right now. I occupy the couch space starting at 5am during the week, however if your travels involve an early departure, feel free to message me about a mid-week stay.
I also have a fairly spacious covered porch for camping, a locked garage for storage and fresh eggs in the backyard for breakfast or an afternoon snack!
As far as non-lodging related offerings, I love exploring Phoenix's bars, restaurants and music venues. I'd love to show you around on your stay. I also love exploring the hiking trails surrounding Phoenix and can provide recommendations or accompany you on an adventure!
I also have a ten year old pit bull. She's not friendly with other animals, so if you're traveling with a pet or you're afraid of dogs, my home may not be the best option for you!
