About Me

Hello! My name is Amy!
I am from San Diego, CA U.S.A and am a recent graduate of the Arts. I know this might sound cliche but I absolutely love trying and exploring new things, and in all honesty, it is quite hard for me to stay in one place for too long. That is why traveling has quickly become a major, if not the biggest, part of my life, as of recently. I have found that, through travel, meeting new cultures and exploring new perspectives, provides a sense of uncompromising freedom and a greater understanding of self. I am a fun loving, goofy, deep, and down to earth person who wants to allow the wind to truly take me where I need to go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After spending most of my twenties in school while learning so many amazing things, I have found it is time for me to truly wander and explore the world.
After studying in Bali, Indonesia (my first trip out of the U.S.) in 2014, the curiosity within me sparked more than it ever had before. After meeting so many amazing people and seeing unimaginably beautiful places, I decided then to embark on yet another soul exploring journey.
I plan to backpack through Europe solo in the Autumn of 2015, in which I believe will be a once in a lifetime journey. I plan to spend 2-4 months, if not more, to explore the UK, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium and many other countries along the way. I really want to explore the truth of these countries and I have found that truth resides within the people, the history, and the land of places. I believe Couchsurfing has now given me this opportunity with ease and I am thankful and excited to meet some amazing people.

Interests

I love adventure and nature, that probably explains why I love to surf, rock-climb, mountianeer, backpack, snowboard, and, importantly, drink some good beer.
I am an artist, who likes to paint, draw, write poetry, and, of course, professionally create amazing graphic design solutions for people.
I also have been really excited about learning new languages. While in Bali, I learned the national language of Bahasa, and am currently learning to speak and write German.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, as for music I am pretty open, but a lot of British bands come to mind, like Oasis, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Who and others. A lot of classic rock, but it really depends on my mood, I love Lana Del Rey and Florence against the Machine. Also some hip hop, reggae, and electro.
As for movies, anything that stimulates the mind and/or spreads social awareness, The Butterfly Effect, Inception, Blood Diamond. Also comedies, of course, like Bridesmaids and the Princess Bride.
Recently read books, "Wild" and "Into the Wild", seems to be a theme there....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, to be honest, to be completely fearless. The purity of that experience lasted about two months for me, but in my opinion has been the most amazing thing I have done. Mostly because it has been the catalyst for who I am truly now.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach kindness. Learn the world and yourself. Share your light.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am really up for anything. If you can spend the time to show me around and have great fun, then that is amazing. But if you can just host me, then that is equally amazing. I am grateful either way. I am very respectful and will treat your home like my own and will respect your space. I also don't mind going out on the town and having amazing experiences that way as well. I plan to hostel mostly, but would love the privilege to meet locals and experience, like I said before, the truth about a place.
