About Me

Hello! We are Tim and Amy Rutherford. We are traveling the world full-time as nomads. In January 2020, we sold our home and are finding adventure around the world.

We retired in 2015 when we were in our late 40s. Our 3rd and youngest kiddo flew the nest in late 2019, so we sold the nest. Tim is an advanced travel hacker and we are international house sitters. We watch the pets of strangers around the world in exchange for a place to stay. In between house sits, we use Airbnbs, hotels and, maybe Couchsurfing!

We have a YouTube channel where we share our life and show others how to retire early. Our channel name is GoWithLess and we're pretty transparent on our channel if you'd like to visit us there.

We are very neat and clean, quiet and helpful. We are both non-smokers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Spending less is what allowed us to retire early. Combine that with a love of meeting new friends and travel and Couchsurfing is a great match. We have friends from 20 to 80 years old. We like meeting others who are doing life differently.

Interests

Tim and I love taking walks in new places. I find fun, free things to do almost anywhere. When we were retired and were home in the Denver, Colorado area, we volunteering with some of our arts organizations. If we weren't on the road traveling, we were volunteering.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a movie buff. So much so, that we will return to Denver every November to volunteer for our 2-week film festival. Quirky, indie, foreign and documentaries are some of my favorite kinds of films.

Classic rock, EDM, opera...my taste in music is also wide. I'm open to all sorts of live theater as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traded in the "American Dream" with the McMansion to stick a few items in the smallest storage locker we could get to travel the world for years.

Teach, Learn, Share

Our YouTube channel is all about teaching others how to retire early, travel on a budget, travel hack and house sit. Our viewers are amazing! Many have become friends.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tim and I are super neat and very respectful house guests. If you would like to practice your English with us, we would be helpful teachers. We would be happy to hear your stories and experiences and share ours. if you're interested. If you would like to learn how we travel on a budget, we are a wealth of information. We would want your experience with us to be nothing but wonderful!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Belize, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Saint Martin (French part), Spain, Switzerland
