About Me

I am so excited right now! I live outside of the Southeastern United States for the first time in my life. Well, I lived in Puerto Rico for a while, back around the turn of the century, but I guess technically that is still the Southeastern US. So there is that.

But the most wonderful thing is happening. I just accepted a new health care position in Portland after several years of unemployment due to a catastrophic injury from a rock climbing fall. I am really fortunate to have found such a great job in such a great city, but after all the years of surgeries and physical therapy and the resulting unemployment, well, let's just say that I am not moving in grand style.

I am content to camp or crash in my car, having done so many times over the years- I don't love camping but if it means I can afford to stay someplace cool for two months instead of two days then I am all in. But I thought that while I am looking for a place to live, why not get to know some really cool people in my new city? So here I am, my little dog and me, looking for new friends. And if the opportunity avails itself to remain hygenically unchallenged for my lovely new job, then all the better.

So if you have a floor for my sleeping bag or heavens to Betsy, a spare bed, I usually have wine or beer to share and some ridiculous tales to tell. Looking forward to meeting you, and happy couchsurfing to you!

YAY! And thanks!

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are a bit eclectic and probably outdated. I like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Morcheeba, Rob Dougan, Over the Rhine, Buckcherry, Johnny Cash...

Movies.... Hector and the Search for Happiness, Secondhand Lions, Reservoir Dogs... yeah, eclectic.

Books, A Prayer for Owen Meany, anything by Douglas Adams, The Alchemist, most of Chuck Palahniuk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived a rock climbing fall that shattered my leg, but got back on the rocks and back in stilettos.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make outstanding cornbread, how to pair it with a good bourbon depending on the type of meal you use, and how to curse like a sailor with a Southern Magnolia accent.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, the chance to snuggle the best dog in the land, and ways to cook Southern food that won't give you heart disease or diabetes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Jamaica
