Overview
About Me
I teach seasonally at an environmental education school in New England and am spending my winter learning and working on farms through WWOOFing. I am an experienced educator who cares about making environmentally conscious choices and empowering children to care for the earth and for each other. I am currently interested in learning more about the systems involved in organic farming and the ways access to food impacts communities. I teach conservation, biology, and social justice classes at my job and am a peaceful, responsible person. I am an experienced backpacker and traveler, a reader, a coffee and beer drinker, a eater of vegetables, and a mediocre flute player. I'm excited to meet you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people and making friends in new places. I was lucky enough to share a house with seven of my best friends last year in western MA while in grad school and hosted many couchsurfers, all of whom were exceptionally lovely. I travel all over the U.S. frequently and would love to make friends and learn from people along the way.
Music, Movies, and Books
Current music: Heligoats, Maggie Rogers, Andrew Bird, First Aid Kit, Lumineers
Books: all David Sedaris, Bill Bryson, Cheryl Strayed's Dear Sugar, Mary Karr's Liars Club
Currently watching Parks & Rec for the first time (I'm a little behind the times)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Worked as a math teacher with a class of inner-city fourth-graders. They were my greatest adventure by far.
Teach, Learn, Share
Backpacking, outdoor skills, hitchiking, making tiny instruments, Irish music, iced coffee brewing, theories of child development and outdoor education?
What I Can Share with Hosts
An extremely positive attitude.
