About Me
I'm right in the middle of the introversion/ extroversion scale. I'm a punk want-a-be that's a bit too straight laced for that awesomeness. I'm a feminist and anti-racist.
I like to reflect on self care/ self love, staying grounded, strong social connections, overall wellness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I actually love the conversation around asking locals about their town or city. So often when I ask this question, get impassioned responses. I get to witness people becoming prideful at describing what makes their area unique, beautiful, and worth spending time on.
I also would argue that you just get a better experience when you talk with people who know the area. If nothing else, you get to know just a little more about the area and are able to put information in a historical context, or just learn about the shortcuts or best biking trails. I just have a more full filling trip when I can do it whiling meeting new friends.
And I am more than glad to do the same for folks coming to stay in my part of the country :)
My favorite travels are when I run into locals who can tell me interesting history or information about the area. I even love asking people about the best things to do in the city, and to get the inside scoop.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love the folksy music of Charlie Parr, Brandi Carlile, and Emmy Lou Harris, to the punk music of Weezer, the White Stripes, and Sleater-Kinney. I still love the music of my childhood including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beethoven, and Gustav Holst. Indie rock and puck also hold a place in my heart with The Decemberist, Metric, The National, and Rilo Kiley.
Name any movie and odds are I have not seen it.
I really enjoy reading. Favorite books include the Abhorsen Trilogy, the Handsmade Tail, Harry Potter, love in the time of Cholera, and the Dark Materials trilogy. Because I am a social working interested in mental health, I also spend a good amount of time reading books on similar subjects such as Tattoos on the Heart, the Happiness Trap, Waking the Tiger, and the Body Keeps the Score.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For a while I was working a job that had me working 10 hour days, 6-7 days a week in the Appalachian foothills. My closest co-worker worked an hour away from me, and I would often drive to meet her after a long day/ week. My favorite memories of that those times were driving back home at 5am and watching the fog lay in the valleys of the mountains, evaporating as the sun rose.
I also spent three weeks hitchhiking, busing, and camping around Iceland. It was amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach basic guitar and swing dance.
