ABOUT ME

I would have to say that I am extremely good at being bad at describing myself. I make inappropriate barnacle jokes at dinner parties and bring my knitting to the bar. Also, I am probably the worst cake decorator in the world. Oh, and bowling. I'm a remarkably bad bowler.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed a couple of times but have not yet hosted. I am also interested in meeting up with CS people to hang out in new cities even if I have alternative accommodations.

Interests

I love knitting and fine fibers. I have a novice's appreciation of architecture and contemporary art. I enjoy local/organic/ethically sourced food and drinking craft beers with friends but I promise not to be a jerk about Oreos and PBR. I listen to a lot of folk/rock/alt-country (is that a genre?) while reading articles on the Internet, but I'm fully aware that that's a terrible habit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Avett Brothers, Neko Case, Rilo Kiley, Mumford and Sons, Radiohead, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Muse

I spent a winter in Moscow reading exclusively Russian literature but I also enjoy tween series like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games and popular science books such as Sex at Dawn and Stiff. I've also read The Princess Bride eight or nine times.

I prefer quality TV series like 30 Rock, The Office, and Peep Show to watching movies but I'll watch anything with James Spader or Sandra Bullock in it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

An armed security guard in an ancient mastaba in Egypt not only allowed but actively encouraged me to hop inside the first red granite sarcophagus known to history because he thought it would make a great picture. He was totally right.
