About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make a lot of gazpacho this summer.

ABOUT ME
I believe spaces should be cozy, relationships meaningful, words chosen with care, and lives grounded in mindfulness.

I'm a poet with a day job. I like to cook, and am fluent in the art of preparing paleo/ allergen-friendly food (especially coconut milk ice cream. I swear it's all yummy...let me cook for you! Aside from slaving away in the kitchen, I enjoy music (listening and playing, going on long walks and bike rides, tea, making useless things out of yarn, and drawing; doing improv, playing games (who wants to beat me at Settlers of Catan? Anyone? Anyone?) and exploring new places.

I'm kind of an arts nerd in general, and am happy to facilitate expereinces as such.

PHILOSOPHY
Slow down. Make contact. Make it count. Be kind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I have only surfed, I would love to host in the (near) future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have yet to have a bad couchsurfing experience. Ya'll rock.

Interests

I like to read and write a lot, and learn more about the world and how I function as a part of it. I enjoy riding my bike, swimming, playing music, cooking, gardening, and exploring new places. I really enjoy, however, seeing how the little pieces that make up the world fit together, and being able to communicate the puzzle to other people, so they can fill in a few more pieces of their own as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

As a writer, this is a ridiculous question. But if I had to I'd tell you to go read: The Solitude of Prime Numbers, War Dances, Rose (Li-Young Lee), La Perdida, Persepolis.
Music: Alex Winston, Breathe Owl Breathe, the Tallest Man on Earth, TV Girl, Sylvan Esso, James Taylor, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jose Gonzales, etc.

(I will not nerd out about classical music, I will not nerd out about classical music.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Awestruck? Human kindness. I enjoy a nice view, and scenery, and grand adventure, but the things that leave me feeling the most deeply touched are acts of generosity that cannot be repaid. Which is why I like couch surfing. People get the chance to take care of each other.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Mindfulness, music, finding joy, cooking, knitting.
Learn: New places, cooking, accordion, language.
Share: Friendship, food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Let me make you dinner! Or tell you a story, draw you a something, or write you a poem. I can also bring Michigan goodies along (cough craft beer cough) for you to enjoy. <3
