About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just a small town gal who got out and saw the world a bit. Love meeting new people from all walks of life and various cultures, so stop on by for a visit :D

ABOUT ME

Honest, very considerate of others, respectful, and just an all around nice person. I enjoy spending time with my friends whether we're playing games, watching a movie or just hanging out. Not much of a drinker and I don't smoke, but I do enjoy good food and good company :)

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a firm believer that you need to enjoy the time you have on this earth. Make an effort to meet new people and learn about cultures other than your own. Don't sit with your head in the sand and ignore the fabulous diversity around you. Have an open heart and an open mind where you can experience all the richness the world has to offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just getting started with couch surfing, but love the idea and the opportunity to meet some cool and interesting people.

Interests

I'm a bit of a techno geek, really like getting my hands on some cool gadgets. There are plenty of geeky, fun places to hang out in Nashville. I'm also an avid reader and could easily get engrossed in a book. Nashville has some great bookstores and also a fabulous library. I listen primarily to Japanese Rock these days, but do enjoy old school rock n' roll and progressive rock (particularly Rush) as well as some punk (Bif Naked being a favorite). I'm not so much into the club scene, but do like to go out occasionally and visit with friends - preferably somewhere we can sit and talk about anything and everything - whatever fits our mood.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been a fan of Japanese Rock music for some 15 years now although I do enjoy other styles as varied as rock to classical and punk to pop. Probably the only types of music which I don't really care much for are country and rap / hip-hop. However, I usually give something a listen though before passing judgement.

I love action movies, suspense thrillers, sci-fi & fantasy, comedies, romantic comedies, foreign films, pretty broad genre really. I have a pretty eclectic collection overall and like to delve into some classic films every now and then, too.

Along with the Japanese Rock, I'm very interested in Japanese culture in general. I enjoy watching anime and reading manga as well as catching some of the latest movies or TV shows released. I have also learned some Japanese and like the opportunity to keep hearing it so I don't lose anything I learned.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first two would have to be from my trip to China - I saw so many amazing things there, it's hard to focus on one as the standout first, but if I had to choose, I would say visiting the Great Wall. I find it simply incredible that early Chinese civilizations had the means to build such an architectural wonder with none of the advanced building technology which we have today.

The second was definitely the Forbidden City. Again, this is an architectural wonder in and of itself as it was built so long ago and had such a unique design for distinguishing each portion of the royal palace. That this "city" still remains in such incredible shape and has changed only slightly since it was originally build (added some modern conveniences such as lighting in some areas), it is a true testament to the ingenuity and creativity of early Chinese culture.

The third would have to be my trip to Berlin and visiting the Reichstag building. There is a dome structure on top of the building which you can walk around to get a 360 view of Berlin and see famous locations such as the Brandenburg Gate. As my name easily indicates, I have German ancestors and it was an all around amazing experience going back to the country from which my family originated.
