About Me

I'm a genuine, down to earth, hardworking but easy going gal that genuinely enjoys life. A few words about me in no particular order: quirky, goofy, open-minded, animal-lover, dog mom, active, yogi, hiker, explorer, runner, biologist, non-judgemental, tomboy, hippie, music fiend, health nut, lover, conservationist, environmentalist.

I'm a big nerd and I love everything biology, but you wouldn't know it unless you asked. I'm also big into music and really enjoy going to shows. I could probably fall into the dirty hippie category, but I think it's really important to take care of your body. I'm very active and enjoy eating healthy food and keeping things natural. Hmmm what else?? Les Claypool 4 President.

Spread love and sweet potatoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing when I took a spontaneous trip backpacking through Europe. Wish I had more experience, but you gotta start somewhere I guess. Europe was cool, met some great people.

Interests

I love nature, animals, music, learning, science, traveling, and being active. I do a lot of yoga and meditation, and I also really love hiking and exploring, especially with my dogs. I'm big on music, so I'm always listening to music/going to live shows.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm all over the place, but I tend to really enjoy funk, rock, jazz, grunge, indie rock, some electronic:
PRIMUS, the New Mastersounds, Parliament /Funkadelic, Alice in Chains, Boards of Canada, Thievery Corporation, Emancipator, the Gorillaz, the Grateful Dead, Lettuce, New Madrid, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Allman Brothers, Built to Spill, Santana, Incubus, James Blake, Kurt Vile, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Incubus, Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, Modest Mouse, The National, Nine Inch Nails, Pinback, Outkast, Mogwai, Interpol.... plus a lot of others.

Books: Love me some Aldous Huxley, Albert Camus, Kurt Vonnegut, George Orwell, etc. I like transcendental fiction/satire etc, but I also like a good nonfiction too. I love science- so stuff like Genome and Your Inner Fish gets me too. Also I love Polishing the Mirror, Siddhartha, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Chaos Creativity and Cosmic Consciousness....

Movies-not a huge movie buff but I like indie cult/funny stuff-The Shining, Fight Club, Zoolander, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Memento, A Beautiful Mind, Life Aquatic (anything Wes Anderson).... etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I raise dogs for visually impaired and got to meet the handler of a dog I raised. It was so amazing to see the puppy I trained doing such an amazing job with her new handler. People always say they could never let a dog go when they finish raising them, but once you see them helping someone else who needs them, it makes everything worth it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about bacteria, infectious diseases, vectors, public health, genomics, genetics, biology in general.

Aside from nerdy stuff, I love yoga, exercise, and health-related information, and would love to pass on the good health to others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Friendship, laughs, cooking skills, yoga practice, stories, positivity.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom
