About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To expand my awareness of the world, get away, and meet new people!

ABOUT ME

I am a very considerate and kind person. I've recently discovered (and accepted) that I am somewhat of an introvert however I really enjoy spending time with people as well. I am in my second year of teaching high school Spanish and it has quickly become my life.

I very much enjoy seeing new places even if they are just a half hour away!

PHILOSOPHY

The best thing we can be is kind to others. I think it is important to learn as much as possible about others and life in general. We should always be expanding our minds and being aware of what is around us.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to this!

Interests

I am a high school Spanish teacher so it is very easy for me to talk about education. In my free time I love to listen to many different kinds of music, play with animals, read books, learn about different cultures, and sociology/social issues. I especially am fascinated by nature so I love being outdoors as much as possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I taught English to children for a week in the small town of Monte Cristi in the Dominican Republic . It was my first time leaving the United States and was really an eye opener for me. I had never seen a different way of living and my experience teaching at the elementary school there was enlightening. I loved being able to talk to the children in Spanish and explain to them the meanings of the new lessons we were teaching them. I also had to learn to work with other volunteers to create lesson plans. Seeing so many open-air houses, restaurants, and schools was very different but I loved it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my experience of living in the U.S. and teach you some Spanish! I am not a very good cook but I can help out and learn! I also know how to play piano so I could teach you some of that!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can help you with whatever you need while I am there and I will be very appreciative.
