About Me

CURRENT MISSION

[Update - I'm currently living back at home in the UK, Newcastle to be precise]

Last year.... I was hitch hiking, couchsurfing, dumpster diving, work awaying, and discovering the world, collecting recipes, advice, memories, friends, stories and knowledge where ever I go. In January 2015 I left home with my little backpack and decided I would spend the year seeing how far I could manage without much. It was exhausting, hilarious, stressful, crazy, tearful, humbling, incredible, and strange, but most of all, unbelievably rewarding. My mission is to experience as much of the world as I can, learn about all different lifestyles, and have fun in the process.

My instagram is meanderingamy if you want to see what I'm up to.

ABOUT ME

I graduated from University with a degree in Anthropology, since then I have been trying to figure out what to do with my life. In the mean time, I've just been exploring the planet and meeting its awesome inhabitants.

PHILOSOPHY

We can spend our lives letting the world tell us who we are, sane or insane, saints or sex addicts, heroes or victims. Letting history tell us how good or bad we are, letting our past decide our future. Or we can decide for ourselves, and maybe its our job to invent something better - Choke, Chuck Palahniuk

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music - Friedrich Nietzsche

It is no measure of health to be well, adjusted to a profoundly sick society - Jiddu Krishnamurti

How lucky I am, to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard - Winnie the Pooh

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

You can learn something from everyone you meet, whether its the person sitting next to you on the bus or your baby niece or a wise old yogi. I believe you should try and expand your horizon wherever possible. When I visit somewhere, I love to go to off the beaten track places such as prisons or weird temples or hidden lakes that you wouldnt find mentioned in lonely planet, CS hosts usually know these places. I've been fortunate enough to meet people from all walks of life from many corners of the globe thanks to this site, I've stayed with mothers, bachelor's, families, students, couples, church leaders, seniors, you name it, and taken something away from each individual I've encountered.

Interests

Books, art (esp. surrealist) red wine, travel, psychology, cooking, philosophy and ethics, writing, thrift stores, languages and poorly attempting them, more red wine, animals, hiking, music, exploring abandoned buildings, baked goods (none are discriminated against except those with peanuts in..), social research, cult film, horse riding, incessantly messing around with my hair (update: I recently cut it all off) spirituality, coffeeeeee.

I'm vegetarian and adore animals, so I will shower your pets (alternatively stray animals) with affection. I also love vegan food. If it were financially and bodily possible I could probably eat a jar of nutella everyday.

I will most likely make references to movies whether or not you have seen them, apologies for that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everything and anything, I have an insatiable curiosity. I love sub cultures, taboo subjects, I enjoy being introduced to new things, and believe you should try everything once. If you want to teach me something then by all means feel free and I will most likely be a willing student, whether its muay thai or a director you love or a favourite Italian dish to cook.
