ABOUT ME
I'm Amy, an "old soul," as many would describe me. A Motown enthusiast and Hitchcock disciple, people have told me I was born in a different decade. In the meantime of this modern age, I work at a tea shop, where my tea addiction is satisfied and I am surrounded by sweet sweet smells all the day long. I love smooth jams, disco jams, jazzy jams, and homemade strawberry jam.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had an incredibly pleasing couchsurfing experience while visiting Detroit in early April. My friend and I met a couple of awesome gals who were so welcoming and accommodating, and actually turned out to be some great new friends!
Interests
I am an artist, so naturally I am very observant of things around me. I take a lot of inspiration from nature, botany, entomology and oceanography. I love microscopic forms, taking them and blowing them up into a pattern or mural. My list of interests is pretty extensive, but here are some highlights:
*Cooking/Baking
*Drinking tea
*Dancing (to Motown, Soul, 90s Hip-Hop, & Otis Redding--yes, he is his own category)
*Watching movies & TV (everyone says this but it truly is something I love doing... I have a pretty diverse DVD collection, from Tarantino to Boy Meets World to John Hughes to Star Wars)
*Collecting books, especially coffee table books about abyssal creatures

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was standing at the top of Amber Fort in Varanasi, India, looking out over the countryside. By myself with nothing but a sketchbook, watercolors and a cool breeze; It. Was. Breathtaking.
Let's see....another great moment was my trip to Mammoth Cave, Kentucky. To be among structures so grandiose, intricate and complex, I swore I was in an IMAX movie with CGI backgrounds....but it was real, and all created by Mother Nature. Those are my favorite places to visit: escaping the manmade world for a moment and slipping into this bizarre, surreal environment whose components are all made by the earth. That is pretty freaking awesome.
