About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Lead a surf-oriented life ~ Make a positive impact on the world ~ Fill another passport

ABOUT ME

I'm adventurous, independent, funny, intelligent and kind with a strong social conscience... and as a former chef, I'm an excellent cook (if I do say so myself).

PHILOSOPHY

Find a way to contribute, do what makes you happy, live a simple life, be open-minded about the world, let go of what doesn't really matter

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met some great people through Couchsurfing, either as a guest in their home or over coffee/wine and conversation in a new place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

An interesting few years of new places and new faces through Couchsurfing on multiple continents!

Interests

I've been an (in-the-ocean-with-a-board) surfer for almost 15 years, I love to be active outdoors, I read voraciously, find ways to be of service to my community/world, enjoy dancing to live/electronic music... and it goes without saying that I love/live to travel. Just as with surfing, life without travel would be no life at all! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I haven't owned a TV in years, but I dig independent film and documentaries

Too many books to list, I read like crazy - currently reading this year's Man Booker Prize winner "A Brief History of Seven Killings"

I dig a wide range of music (unless it's pop, just can't do it)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jaw-dropping surf in Indonesia, the ruins at Machu Picchu, the tragedy of poverty everywhere in the developing world

Teach, Learn, Share

I was a chef for 5+ years, so I'm happy to cook or give cooking lessons (used to do that for clients all the time!). I was also a university writing consultant for a stretch, so if you've got a writing/editing project about which you'd like some input, I'm happy to help (random, I know). I also speak pretty decent Spanish, if you're learning and want to practice conversation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Always happy to share meals and conversation with hosts!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, France, Honduras, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
