About Me

Hi!
I'm Anne, let's be friends. I am a 20-year-old new graduate with a BS in Psychology and I am currently on a mission to find my life passion. I figured that if I post more photos of myself, you kinda get a better understanding of who I am or what to expect, hahaha. But I would definitely like to skype (annetruong21) or something so we can get to know each other! Rather than have a complete stranger stay at your house...

I currently live with my family so I don't have a place for anyone to stay, but once I move out I'm almost certain I'll be into this scene!

TRAVELING
Before last year, I basically have never travelled outside the US. During the Fall semester, however, I helped my aunt out with her startup in Vietnam which also brought me to Thailand and Hong Kong. The travel bug hit me hard. My family surprised me with tickets to Europe as a grad gift but on my barrista/coffee-making wage, money is kinda tight. All's good, though, I would love to give this "Couchsurfing" deal a try whether or not I had money in the first place. I want to do all that i can abroad that I cannot do in the USA. Like eat different foods and engage in unique activities. I'm also really into art history!

PHILOSOPHY
Though I am pretty spontaneous at times I do believe that if you plan things out, you get more things done. I would definitely say that plans that are easily changed are the safest plans. This kinda helps me explain why I'm rushing into trying to do everything I can as soon as possible with my one life. Particularly, I want to travel all around the world and meet as many people and start as many companies and do what ever I can before the age of 35, which is unfortunately the age of which giving birth becomes dangerous (and I assume that later on I'll want a child...eventually...ugh). When I have my own family and own children, I feel like my life will end because my whole focus will be on whether or not they get to experience everything. So 15 years to do what I can with what I have. I also really appreciate all the relationships I have, in a selfish sense. Everyone knows something I don't and I really respect that and am curious as to listen to all the stories of experiences that everyone has had. What is the purpose of life if not to experience as much as you can?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm broke but I love meeting new friends in new countries (:

Interests

I'm really into linguistics, culture, history, coffee, dancing, art, musicals...I like a lot of things. Not tok crazy about sports, though. I love all things social and people-oriented. When it comes to art, food, music, and performances, I love listening to the history and why certain details were added and others omitted. Historical trivia is really fun to me, especially when they come with stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I used to be a hip-hop dancer so I had in inclination towards that kind of music. But generally I appreciate different types of music for different reasons. For example, I respect rap for the lyrics, classical for the intricate melodies and harmonies, and jazz for the smooth, seemingly improvisational flow.

Movies: With friends, I ADORE horror movies. Alone, I find myself watching a lot of biographical dramas (I like searching up the actual person afterwards and finding things). I just really like movies that are GOOD in general. I also love guessing all the motiffs and symbols.

Books: For fictional, I was a huge Agatha Christie and Paulo Coelho fan. I was so obsessed with mysteries that I once wanted to be a part of a Crime Scene Investigation team, but I also really liked the symbolic moral lessons that Coelho taught in his books. As of now, I've been reading a lot of nonfictional psychology books, like Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Khaneman and Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely. I'm interested in the psychology of decision making and the whole subject of behavioral economics.
