About Me

I'm Ana, from Portugal. I've always lived in a small town, in the north of the country, called Barcelos and I moved to Porto, the second biggest portuguese town, four years ago, when I started university.
I'm studying architecture so I have a lot of interest in travelling to know different places, with different kinds of constructions and ways to design the city and the buildings. However, besides that, travel also means to contact with distinct cultures and people, which for me it's really enriching and interesting.

I like to share points of view, learn and teach, that is, to share knowledge and experiences. I really love to know more, to discover new things and to think about things I never thought before. I feel that, out there, there's a world to be discovered and I want to know it as much as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because, in my opinion, to travel is not the same as tourism. Traveling and visiting different places is to get to know them in a deep way. When I go to a place where I had never been before, I try to understand it in its essence. I won't deny the importance of the tourist points, but I believe that a traveler should look for more than that: the unknown places, the local culture and costums and the people.

Couchsurfing is undoubtedly a way to achieve that. Through it, people are able to stay in a local home, and being integrated in the local culture and day life, which for sure, improves the experience of travel.
Besides that, I consider people are indeed an amazing source of knowledge. It’s priceless the opportunity to share different points of view and experiences, especially with people from different backgrounds.

For those reasons, I truly believe in the importance of the opportunity couchsurfing provides to us all.
