Hello there!

I'm a Canadian business student who is currently doing and exchange semester in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I'm not an experienced traveler by any means but I do want to get a genuine feeling of the cities I will be visiting, how the locals live and how the general life pace is.

I was born in Moldova and grew up in Montréal. The stay in two bilingual environments gave me the privilege to speak three languages fluently (Russian, French and English) and quasi-perfectly understanding Romanian. On top of that, I am also trying to learn Spanish for my own pleasure.

My only true travel experience comes from my two months stay in Moshi, Tanzania, doing volunteer work with a women's cooperative in a rural area. This allowed me to connect with people from various social backgrounds, and was a most fulfilling and humbling time for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing for no life-changing-mind-opening reason. I think the best way to get to know a city is through the people who live there. I hope to interact with the people I meet, maybe get a beer, talk about whatever comes to mind, visit around with them (if possible) to experience the city as a local. However, I am a first-timer to almost anywhere, and this means that I would also like to visit some of the iconic spots in each city!

Interests

I enjoy learning about the history of a place, looking at how people established their societies, how they built their buildings throughout the ages and so on.

I enjoy taking a beer, going out for a walk, chatting with people, exchanging ideas and experiences. I prefer one-on-one or small groups gatherings, since it is easier to interact with everyone this way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Huge Harry Potter books fan! I've also read alot of teen/young adult fantasy like the Hunger Games, Divergent series, Narnia...

Movies: I loved the new Star Trek, all the Star Wars, I enjoy Luc Besson and Tim Burton movies in general. The movies I watched the most amount of times were probably Breakfast at Tiffany's and Les Choristes (french)

Series: the new Doctor Who series, Friends, How I met your Mother, Sherlock, Game of Thrones..

Music: I listen to any kind of music. By any - I do mean any! As long as I have a good feeling about the song, I'll like it. My favorite artists/bands are, at the moment, The Offspring, Billy Talent, Gorillaz, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Georges Brassens.....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've reached the summit mount Kilimanjaro! Unbelievable even to me and even to this day, this is probably the accomplishment I'm the most proud of.

Beside hiking without an ounce of physical training, I do enjoy activities such as parachute jumping, bungee jumping, white water rafting, and so on :) If it flies, I'm usually in!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love a language exchange, even a few words, as I always strive to learn new languages. The main purpose for me being on Couchsurfing is to get to know cities or countries in the eyes of the locals, so I would hope to learn about local history, how life goes on, architecture, facts, anything really!

What I can teach or share:
I'm a horrible, horrible cook. I'm sorry. However, I can discuss any interests, I can teach Russian, French or English words, I can answer questions about Montréal city or Québec province, etc.
