About Me
ABOUT ME
I was born in the Baltimore, Maryland area in the USA, but at a young age my family moved to West Virginia to live on a farm. I love equally life in the city and country life. I love hanging out in coffee shops or people watching, going to plays, the ballet, etc., in the city, but also love taking hikes, camping, and being in nature. I have a bachelors degree in Global Cultural Studies from Point Park University in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and graduated in 2010. Most recently I've been involved with the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms program farming first in Lithuania (where my mother is from) over the summer and fall of 2011, and currently in France, near Castelnaudary.
I'm a quiet, but also a good conversationalist. I don't like excessive partying or drinking, but do like to socialize with people. Since I started traveling I've found that I'm happiest when living like a local, observing local rhythms of life rather than doing typically touristy things. I would say that I'm easy going, and get along well with almost everyone!
Interests
I have many interests! I've taken ballet all my life, and love dance of all kinds. I really loved college, especially anthropology, and still love learning about cultures and psychology. I'm a life long vegetarian and love to cook!
I enjoy making things with my hands-sewing, knitting, basket making; but sometimes I get bored with something, so I tend to learn everything about one type of craft, do it all the time for a bit, then take a break from it for awhile. Example: last Christmas I knit a friend a hat in two days-however, I've been working on a pair of socks for months and they still aren't done!
My most recent, and long lasting, passion, is serious gardening. I would like to start a non profit company someday to support urban farming. My most serious interests revolve around this: sustainably living, everything to do with fruit and vegetable gardening...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most recent amazing sights which left me breathless was driving through southern France last week, and catching my first glance of the Pyrenees rising out of the landscape; the snow covered tops against the blue sky was absolutely gorgeous! It was one of those sights which reminded me that I do love traveling, even though I get homesick sometimes!
Since living out of the states, I can say that the things which has amazed me most, changed me most, is the moment when I realized that I could really function and live comfortable in another country. This year was my first time abroad, and starting out living in Lithuania felt very alien and was difficult at first. But after a few months, I realized how different I felt, how comfortable I was with the language, the culture, the people. It was an amazing moment, empowering and exciting.
