About Me

Someone interested in almost everything and who has a lot of questions. I can be a little shy at first but I also talk a lot sometimes, as you're about to find out (sorry about that...). I find it great listening to all kinds of knowledge being shared, despite being more of a logical thinker I've great respect for humanities and really would like to know more about them. I'm into any type of cultural thing but also enjoy going out every now and then.
Other than that, thinking about how to describe myself I've come to five statements that I believe are important parts of what I am and/or hosts should know about me: I really love cats; for some unknown reason I have always been very afraid of dogs; I've taken part in a social project about education (which is below expected here in Brazil most of the time) for about 2 years now; I'm a femminist; and I've got a collection of almost 800 paperclips, but I only take home those which I find on the street. And as if I hadn't talked about myself enough, I used to know by heart pretty much everyone's birthday, but for some reason I've lost that special power a few years ago.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Growing up, I'd sometimes wonder what was it like being someone else. Not only thinking in a different way or having a different set of life experiences, but also experiencing the simplest things such as just going home on another train or living in a different house with a different family. Even though I cannot enter people's minds and share their thoughts yet, Couchsurfing allows me to accomplish the second bit, so maybe one could put it like I'm here just trying to make one of my childhood daydreams come true?
On top of that, I'm very keen on the idea of meeting new people, learning some new, interesting things and traveling like a local. I'm also looking for valuable tips: I'd like to know places I wouldn't if I'd travelled in a traditional way!

Interests

I like getting in touch with nature and listening to people's experiences and stories. I also love reading, watching tv series and movies, listening to music and building things from scratch, hence my interest in origami, crochet and DIY projects. I've recently became interested in cooking, and little by little I'm getting there! Maybe I can cook you one of my wannabe signature dishes? (But don't get too excited for that...)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like pretty much everything, so hopefully we'll find something to talk about!
I'm mainly into rock, indie, pop and MPB (which translates to "brazilian pop music" but isn't quite pop as we're used to actually), but I also know the words to Anitta's newest single. If I had to select a few of my favorite artists, I'd say Fleet Foxes, Queen, The Smiths, Beck, M.I.A., Banda Uó and Aldo: The Band.
When it comes to movies, I basically like both entertaining and surprising ones, but I tend to like better those that keep me on the edge of my seat. Some of the movies I like and always reccommend to everyone are Mr. Nobody, Run Lola Run, Dogtooth and Paprika. I also like Studios Ghibli's animations and, quite honestly, musicals like Mamma Mia and Hairspray. If we're talking tv series, my favorites right now are Arrested development, Freaks and Geeks, Pushing Daisies, That '70s Show, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, House of Cards and Black Mirror.
I like detective novels and murder mysteries, science fiction, realism and magical realism and comics. Some of my favorite books are literally any Agatha Christie's written, Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle, Love in the Time of Cholera and Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel García Márquez, Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke, VALIS by Philip K. Dick, Cousin Bazilio by Eça de Queirós, Dom Casmurro and The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas by Machado de Assis and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Retraced Saint Joseph of Anchieta steps, a very important figure in Brazil's history in the first century after its European discovery. The pilgrimage route is called "Passos dos Jesuítas-Anchieta", something like "Anchieta and jesuits steps", and has a total length of more or less 370 km (230 miles), from Peruíbe to Ubatuba, which means the entire coast of the state of São Paulo. Me and my group trekked once a month, and completed the route in about 1,5 year.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In spite of being a little shy at first, I can promise my hosts commitment to the creation of a meaningfull bond, since I'm interested in people's lives and wish I could make a friend out of every host. I can help with all types of home services and, if I'm allowed, I might cook something (but I don't swear by it). My manual habilities right now let me offer as thank you gifts things like origamis, kusudamas, colorful tube bracelets and maybe bookmarks (I'm still working on those). I have a lot to share when it comes to Brazil's culture and places worth visiting in São Paulo, not only the city but also and the state, and I can reccommend plenty of cool things to watch, read and listen to, according to the host's taste.
