About Me

It is a bit difficult to describe yourself, but let's try. People often tell me that I'm full of energy, and I guess I would agree, but it is mostly in good company. I'm easily convinced to go somewhere, do something new, and I like to get out of my comfort zone, even if it requires a small push sometimes.
I also really really appreciate food, trying out new flavours, and especially when it's healthy food (not a big bread, pasta & potato fan).
I'm not up to date with all the social networks (Instagram, Snapchat, etc.), but I do have a Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/ana.martinic.7)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like almost everyone else, it was a cheap way to travel, so that is why I first tried it out. But after some really nice experience, saving money is not the main reason to do it. I would say that with couchsurfing, and staying with a local for couple of days you get a feeling of a city that would normally take couple of months.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

- 2015 My best friend and I stayed with Diederick in Amsterdam. It was a perfect balance of exploring the city, enjoying the nature, tasting different flavours and of course, partying. What can you say when you wake up in the morning to the sound of piano...
-2012 First CS experience in Sicily: 7 day trip where we stayed with 4 different hosts. All of them were so different, so I got to see how CS can be like. It was a perfect start of this kind of travelling.

Interests

Hiking is definitely number one! I've only recently discovered it, so I have so many mountains and peaks on my bucket list, but in Croatia I also love to do trail running, best combination of nature and running. I like sports in general, especially in the nature, I want to do rock climbing, but somehow there are always other things to do like surfing right now. I'm taking surfing classes, and I'll see how it goes. Also I'm always up for dancing to a good music, and seeing a good live rock concert.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I'm one of those who never know the name of the song or of the artist, but I do like a wide range of music, from classical and jazz to reggae and rock. I would say I enjoy rock music the most when I go out, but recently I've been listening a lot to Morcheeba. What I don't really like is heavy metal, hip-hop and house.

As for movies and books, I hate to admit that I don't read that much, but I'm trying to read books in Spanish. Actually, I don't like reading in Croatian, I prefer English. So now I'm reading a book called El camino, from Miguel Delibes.

Movies: love cartoons, psychological thrillers, dramas... basically anything but the horrors. I love European movies much better than American. Spanish, in particular.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Now that I think of, I haven't really done anything really amazing. At least, nothing AMAZING comes to my mind. Hmm, maybe it's time to do something about it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I am a teacher, maybe the thing that I could do is teach English :) But, what I would really love is to talk about Croatia, especially the south region of Dalmatia. As I worked as a tour guide during summer, I could tell you many things about the best spots there.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing is caring! Probably experiences, stories about my country, good vibrations and hopefully a good laugh :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
