About Me

I am over educated and naturally curious. I want to see, learn and experience all I can while I can. I was raised by nomadic artists/hippies and have lived in 9 different countries and around 10 american states. While I did not quite inhert my parents more hippiness (I'm quite a practical person) I did get their sense of adventure so when I'm not collecting degrees or starting a new business venture I like to explore and meet new people. I currently live in New Orleans in the states with my teenage child and our lovely overly friendly kitten and dog, though starting this summer I will be maintaining residences in both New Orleans and Finland.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me the best part of travel is not going in large tour groups gaping at must see sights but immersing oneself into the local culture, learning from and exchanging ideas and cultures and ultimately fostering the whole love they neighbor thing (We are all neighbors)...couch surfing embodies that spirit,so here I am.

Interests

Food, foodie doesn't even quite cover my love of cooking, learning about food (where it comes from, how to improve it,the processes involved etc), besides that dancing, music (I occasionally play/make music),I am an avid bookworm, gardening, outdoors sports (sailing, kayaking, camping, snowboarding, horseback riding amongst others), and learning to operate any moveable vehicle (So far in addition to a regular license I have a pilots license,a boat license..all I need to do is learn train conducting).

Music, Movies, and Books

All of , love art and culture..I have a love affair with the smell and sound of a rustling hard back book, I dj and make music on occasion and while I'm not as big a film buff, if you wanna discuss a great drama or the finer aspects of movie costuming, let's talk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in 9 other countries and 8 other states. I think this has taught me to appreciate all the differences and roll with the unexpected .

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a fantastic cook of 7 different "ethnic" cuisine ( Malaysian,Thai,Mexican,Colombian,Chinese,Vietnamese, and Jamaican) so I guess teaching people new dishes or just cooking for them. I am very into nature so love learning new places to hike, kayak, sail or just randomly picnic and frolic in the outdoors.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides my above incredible cooking skills...uh I'm kind of a semi expert on craft beers and I know more than one should about astronomy so if anyone's down for some star gazing with a knowledgeable "guide".

Countries I’ve Lived In

Colombia, Denmark, Hungary, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, United Kingdom, United States
