Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host once in a while and always try to meet people who contact me. Usually I invite them for a snack and a chat preferably at a nice place close to the beach or any typical carioca spot like "botecos". I try to make everyone feel like home, whether they are CSers, HCers, whatever! That's like a commitment to me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

so far I have only met couchsurfers, but not surfed any couch of this community yet - believe me or not! ;-) Anyway, in 1 year as a couchsurfer it has been great to meet so many interesting people!!

People, this has been changing! I have hosted Ronald Fischer in December 2007 and Michael Weber in early February 2008. I have surfed Natalie Unterstell's couch in Oslo (April 2008) and Robert Follbro's couch in Stockholm (May 2008) while travelling through Scandinavian capitals. Also hosted Johan Hahn, Hannah Bass, Sergei Braun and Gil White in 2009 and 2011. In 2010 I was living in France where I had the honour of meeting Gabriela Antunes, who lives in Strasbourg with her fiance Joao.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A sunset in Berlin at 9:30 in the evening - beautiful and unusual for a Brazilian, I had never seen such a late sunset in my life!
People that have helped me just because they wanted to - a gentleman that gave me the exact money in coins in a bus in Buenos Aires when I only had a bill that would not be accepted; a lady in Copenhagen who asked me if I needed any info because she saw me reading the city map; a guy from Hospitality Club who drove 2 hours from Turin to Milan just to pick me up at Malpensa airport and drive me back to Torino, where I was going to live.
