About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To maintain and encourage the under-used Sense of Wonder

ABOUT ME

I live in Portland in a little house with my sweetheart and two other housemates. I have joint custody of a herd of goats but they live an hour away. We're into making things and doing things and going places. :) I'm just starting school to become a railroad conductor but hopefully we can find time to have folks stay over.

PHILOSOPHY

I seek knowledge and experience... what I'll do with it once I've got it, I do not know... but damn, isn't it fun?

Interests

Life, goats, sheep, food, dogs, animals, birds, plants, rewilding, living in the woods, music, gardening, archery, tanning, being goofy, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

My most cherished book is Ishmael by Daniel Quinn.

I also love The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan; Secrets of the Talking Jaguar by Martin Prechtel; There's a Hair in My Dirt! by Gary Larson; The Forest People by Colin M. Turnbull; The Living by Annie Dillard; Catch-22 by Joseph Heller; The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupére, and... more than that.. and the list of books I really want to read stretches from here to Betelgeuse.
I learned to read looking at Gary Larson comics.

Movies: I do enjoy movies, from Koyaanisqatsi and Orphee to 300 and Pirates of the Caribbean. Werner Herzog is fun and so is Cary Grant! I've seen a lot of movies, but people usually come up with some I need to see.
Also: Stop-motion animation. I love Will Vinton!!! I used to dream in claymation.

Music: anything from bluegrass and Mongolian folk music to dubstep and Alt-J.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can milk sheep... and build simple things, and paddle a canoe from just one side, and make fire, and cook some things, and harvest some wild food, and butcher meat, and I know some good songs.
I would love to learn how to do all those things better, and lots more!
