About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do I name just one?

ABOUT ME

I am a life-long student, teacher, mother, sister. I can be a bit reserved at first but once I open up, I am sarcastic, quirky and dare I say imaginative...? I am a massive introvert.
Lots of times I say weird and random things that no one gets but me so I am constantly laughing with myself.

PHILOSOPHY

The golden rule. What you work for is what you get. The choices that I make now will have an impact later. Time will inevitably forge ahead....might as well do something worthwhile...stop procrastinating....I should take my own advice...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met many couch surfers through traveling, hosting and through my awesome friend Holly. I have surfed with some hosts on a road trip along the Western US coast and had a fabulous and memorable time.

I also had an epic and unforgettable trip to Ireland, Scotland and England where my hope for humanity was enthusiastically revived. Couch surfing has effectively changed my life, to say the least.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Amazing. Exhilirating. Immensely gratifying. Traveled with my Buddy Holly (hehe, git it?), met some awesome couch surfers, and stayed with a few. Each time around I had a great time.

Interests

My family. They are very important to me. I have a big one (8 sisters, 2 brothers, a daughter and son), and I love them all more than anything. I love traveling, different cultures, new experiences. I find so many things interesting, that I've determined to get at least 4 college degrees. Right now I just finished with a Masters degree in school psychology, then someday journalism, culinary, and aviation. I think it would be pretty grand if I could create music one day.

I also am slowly conforming to the nonconformist's way of life regarding healthy stuff. I am slowly but surely converting to all things organic, non-GMO, pesticide and preservative-free, and natural remedies (essential oils, herbs etc.). I've grown up surrounded by being healhty and natural, but now I am really trying to go further with it.

I like to jog. I pay tribute to the dearly departed by hopping the fence at the local cemetery. I don't mean any disrespect to the law or the interred, it's just that its so beautiful there, and I feel energetic and alive there (ironically enough).

Music, Movies, and Books

I can pretty much listen to all music. I like reggae, rock, alternative, classical, country, metal, oldies, jazz, blues, indie, electronic, r&b.
Some of my favorite bands/musicians: Pink Floyd, Florence and the Machine, Mana, Black Keys, Mumford and Sons, Ozzy, Metallica, Nightwish, Nirvana, White Stripes, Citizen Cope, The xx, Pretty Lights, the Glitch Mob, Michael Buble, Louis Armstrong, Ottmar Liebert, Bob Marley, Englebert Humperdink, just to name a few, very few.

I also love to read. I'm almost always working on a book. Classic books and textbooks. History books and biographies. I love to read books that shed light on culture (The Color Purple, One Hundred Years of Solitude, the Kite Runner), and those controversial/crazy books (1984, Brave New World, Lord of the Flies, etc..). The sci-fi Enders Game and Speaker for the Dead are also some of my all time favorites.

Not the biggest fan of movies....unless they're documentaries or bio's or movies from all those dark, twisted directors like Quintin Tarantino, Tim Burton, Guy Ritchie or the Coen Bros. I really like those guys.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know the prompt only says to list one thing but I'm not taking it:

I have given life to a red-headed girl (watch out world), and a brown-eyed boy.

I have been surrounded by ocean on all sides and felt exhilarated.

I've stuffed my face with a warm, sweet mango smothered in chile and lime, and have it burn my insides (and then some).

I have seen the way in which meeting new people can expand my cultural awareness and appreciation.

One time, I drove a boat at top speed on a lake with the full moon out and a great song. Made me feel like Bond. James Bond.

Sometimes I make my bed. I'd say that's pretty amazing and rare.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how do do the macarena. I am starving for knowledge. I would love to learn from people who know what they are talking about and not just spew fluff. I know how to spew fluff, and if you can call me out on that, then you're pretty darn intelligent.

I'd like to learn more about everything.
