About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm trying to discover who I am, who I wanna be, how I can participate in that world and be useful here...

PHILOSOPHY

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye."

(Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince)

I really believe that material things are not important at all. The Little Prince had his heart full of love and that was the key to his child's happiness. The health, love, and friendship, that's the essential trinity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am an occasional user with few CS experiences and many positive references about couch surfing from all around me.
I feel that the main idea of couch surfing is pretty similar to the one of the voluntary projects which I used to do so often and liked so much.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my experiences are based on spending my leisure time with foreigners; I would guide them in Prague or we would just sit together somewhere indoor discussing life & culture & politics plus drinking delicious Czech beer :)
Officially surfing few times, hosting only once or twice. But I've already slept on many couches of my foreign friends from international volunteering (in Spain, France, Germany,...) and vice versa :)

Interests

I'm interested in nothing else but life :)
...which means I love arts (photography, literature, music, paintings, movies), bicycle riding, hiking (nature) or regular city walking, watching football matches from English Premiere league, traveling and volunteering, meeting my friends.
Additionally, I also care about world affairs such as politics and international conflicts (and like discussions over how to solve them, how to order peace again)

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: Lost in Translation, Forrest Gump, Blue is the Warmest Color, Love Actually, Hair, Kolja
books: Jojo Moyes books, The Little Prince (Exupery), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (all Kundera's books in fact), On the Road (Kerouac), Harry Potter tales (Rowling), etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once upon the time, there was a beautiful night sky in Gresse en Vercors natural park in France. We slept in deserted mountains hut at the high of 2000 m and the sky there was simply magic - I've never seen all the stars of Milky Way so clearly. I felt like I'm flying just among them in the universe - it was hard to believe I'm not dreaming! Perfect place, perfect people, perfect moment.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is still something to learn and always something to teach. I can share my experiences from international volunteering and advise about where to go, what to do, tell a lot of things about building a dry-stone wall (I've already built up three in France :D ) or tell you stories about life in Lapland in stone age style (which I experienced for certain time) or tell something in general about the understanding and tolerance in group of 14 international volunteers.
I also think I'm not such a bad guide in Prague - I know that city very well (for more than 23 years), so I'm able to show the others a lot of interesting places, not only the most common ones!
Also, since 2012 I'm teaching "Czech language for foreigners", so basically I'm able to help with difficult Czech grammar and even more difficult Czech pronunciation, if somebody interested.
On the other hand I would love to learn more languages or improve my current ones, plus I'm always delighted to meet new cultures and habits of the people from all around the world :)
