Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

To discover the wonderful, beautiful things that have been right in front of me this whole time...

Interessi

I volunteer in the education department at a zoo and I love reptiles (and cute fuzzy things too).

In my studies (anthropology) I am currently focused on conservation and how we interact with animals and nature. I'm also interested in Latin American history, archives and narratives, history of science, and generally sorting out how we go about living something that we can call a 'good life'.

I'm not actually good at sports and such (I tend to try, fail, then grumble a little), but I like being outside. Heat and sunshine make me happy.

Musica, film e libri

Heart of Darkness is a favorite, just read Dune and am pretty enthralled by it right now, anything by Garcia Marquez, Bukowski, or Machado de Assis...plus lots of non-fiction for school: "Silencing the Past" (Michel Trouillot) is pretty spectacular.

I didn't follow music at all (crazy, I know), but under the excellent guidance of my brother Nick I'm getting more into it. Regardless of whether or not I know the musician I love going to shows with people.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

As a kid my family was driving through New Mexico and all along the side of the highway were incredible red and orange mesas. The sun was setting, there was no green or blue, just the red rock and the orange-yellow sky and it was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I can discuss all sorts of things about animals and conservation with you. Also, sustainable living, not eating meat...that kind of thing.

I really like yoga, so I can tell you a little bit about that.

I teach undergraduates right now, so in theory I can teach you about anthropology...

I would love to practice speaking Portuguese with you!!
