About Me

I'm easy to get along with, as long as you recycle. I love a good cup of coffee, railing against the patriarchy, and trying new things. Don't talk to me if you voted for Trump.

I currently live in Istanbul, Turkey, where I'm working with the UN Development Programme's Gender Equality Team.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love couchsurfing! I've couchsurfed in Lausanne, Zurich, Barcelona, London, Budapest, Stockholm, and countless other cities - I have had a wonderful and unique experience each time. It's a great way to discover new cities and meet interesting people.

Interests

Traveling, of course. I'm a nature nerd so I like to go on hikes, bird-watch (with the binoculars and everything) and adore camping. I'm a sucker for bonfires, a good sunset, and I own about 4 different cameras.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Pulp Fiction, The Room, A Bout de Souffle, Obvious Child, Moonlight

Music: Basically anything that's not trash.

Books: anything Vonnegut, On the Road, 1984, Naked Lunch, Erasure, The Road, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, I could go on forever..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mt Meru in Tanzania, but I was disappointed that the clouds didn't feel as fluffy as they always look.
Also, I just spent the summer observing the wolf project in Yellowstone, and I witnessed a pack kill a rival pack member just a few 100m from me. Tough to watch, but hiking up 1500ft just to see Grinnell Glacier melting right in front of my eyes at Glacier National Park was probably worse. Global warming is real, kids!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to tell the difference between a red maple and a silver maple and show you which leaves are good for soothing mosquito bites, sunburns and/or poison ivy.
