About Me

Into comedy, agroforestry/permaculture/sustainability, self studying herbal medicine, advocacy for people with disabilities, creating alternatives, DIY anything, music (especially punk/hardcore and cumbia), learning growing becoming better, and forming special bonds with tight folks who wanna do things of substance.

I have actually couch surfed and hosted many times throughout my life, but it's been a few years and I cannot figure out my old password so I'm starting over with this profile.

Any other info you want to legitimize who I am I'm happy to give haha. I'm just about to leave my job for an unpaid internship so don't wanna spend the money on verification again if I don't have to

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am soon heading to Brazil for a long term work-stay and educational program in Nova Friburgo. I will have a few weekends during which I can explore and CS is my favorite way to experience a new place - I'd much rather have more direct experiences with people who live in the area than stay in hostels and primarily interact with other travelers. I like to get to know actual places rather than their tourism industries.

I also love hosting people but unfortunately because I have to move out in April and am getting ready to leave the country, I can't accommodate more than one or two nights. I'd be totally down to meet up with people who are visiting and provide suggestions though!

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly read non-fiction related to environmental and social issues, poetry, and Latin American magical realism. Favorite book is An Indigenous People's History of the United States.

Punk/hc, cumbia, 90s-early 2000s hip hop rap rnb, bossa nova, I mean there's so much music I love and appreciate.

I don't watch many movies but my favs are Heathers, LOTR, Barbe Bleue, Old Boy (Korean version). I watch a good amount of comedy but I don't think film format is the best medium to carry the types of humor I love.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to think that my most amazing experiences were adventurous and adrenaline producing (ay, that one time I was about 10 meters away from an elephant stampede 😬😁), but as I get older I see the things that amaze me most are the connections I have been fortunate enough to form with other open and sincere humans. I guess the relationship that comes to mind is the one I have with the non-speaking boy I nanny: he's such a great cool kid, and I truly feel like he's my kid/little brother/best friend in San Diego. Helping him access communication, grow intellectually and socially, and generally just bringing a little joy and exploration into his life, has been one of the most rewarding opportunities I've had.

Teach, Learn, Share

Herbal medicine, foraging, venturing around natural spaces, permaculture, responsible resource use, water collection and distribution etc-- haha all very fun I know

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to laugh, cook tasty vegan meals, explore weird places with new friends, and share stories and experiences. Always down to have humorous talks about heavy subjects (I find humor makes difficult things more bearable). I'm pretty open and flexible, so unless I'm firmly committed to something I don't have a problem changing plans for someone else's sake.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, Laos, Mexico, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand, Zimbabwe
