About Me

Hi, I’m Ananije Besović! I was born and raised in Podgorica, the capital city of Montenegro. After finishing high school, I moved to Belgrade, where I spent the next eight years. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, and in 2024, I started my Master's studies at the Faculdade de Belas Artes in Lisbon.

I have a deep love for music, both listening and playing. I’m skilled at guitar and play a bit of piano. I’m also musically literate, having graduated from a lower music school in Podgorica. While studying in Belgrade, I worked in a kitchen, so I’m quite familiar with Serbian and Italian cuisine.

In my free time, I enjoy running, spending time in nature, and hanging out with friends. This is my first experience with Couchsurfing, and I’m excited for the journey and looking forward to meeting new people!

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently, I am deeply immersed in the musical works of Brian Eno. I also appreciate minimalist composers like Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds. American composer Steve Reich is someone I greatly admire. In the past, I was more into IDM producers like Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and experimental electronic music. The last album that gave me a similar experience was Chill Out by The KLF.

My favorite movie directors are Michael Haneke, Alejandro Iñárritu, and Paolo Sorrentino. However, I don’t consider myself a film enthusiast; I’m mostly drawn to movies with interesting visuals.

As for books, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez will always resonate with my roots. Though it’s set on a different continent, I see reflections of my home country in its pages. What keeps me reading are Renaissance works like Gargantua and Pantagruel and In Praise of Folly, especially for their humor.
