About Me
Hello!
My name is Ananya — pronounced as “uh-naan-ya”.
I was born and raised in India, and have been pursuing my higher education in London since 2017. I recently submitted my MSc. Thesis towards professionally (and academically) becoming a Performance Scientist, achieved a Distinction, and am now preparing for my PhD commencement in September 2022.
At my core I am an artist, musician, songwriter, and storyteller who loves to experience life with my heart and soul - with an occasional interruption from my brain haha. I am working towards a creative life that can support and fund intitiatives to promote and provide quality education for all children and women in South Asia (and beyond).
I welcome the exchange of views, thoughts and ideas and am an enthusiastic conversationalist.
Although English is my third language, I am quite comfortable communicating using it.
For potential Surfers:
If you’d like to stay with us (my housemates and I), here are a few things which may prevent undesirable surprises:
We have a cat who has free reign of the house, a ball python who lives in a tank in the living room, and few other reptiles and amphibians littered around in *secured* terrariums around the house.
The sleeping space is shared (we have the living room or the loft to offer you ). If you’re hoping for a private bedroom all to yourself please be aware we cant accommodate that. The living room is more comfortable with a couch but obviously less private, whereas, the loft (with a single air mattress) is more secluded and accessible via pull-down stairs - so no one will enter it if you’re staying there.
Thank you for reading!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has been a fantastic medium for me to meet new people who are fueled by their travels, and hosts who graciously open up their homes and hearts to surfers.
I've unintentionally been caught up in a series of travels which would have been foreign and intimidating, had it not been for the wonderful hosts I've stayed with.
I hope to give back to the community, not only as a host but also as a grateful and respectful surfer.
