About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Apparently, overthink about everything.
I believe we take small steps in everything in life. Sometimes we can't change one's day or life because of our atitudes, for better or worse. So everyday is a day to make something beautiful and fulfilling.

ABOUT ME

I am a Japanese granddaughter so I don't fit the Brazilian profile one could expect, although I absolutely love my country, it's wonderful culture and mix of cultures and the Brazilian way of living.
I work from home most of the time and now I'am studying a lot now 'cause I'am going to apply for masters in Urban Anthropology.
But I do have time for a beer (yes, please) and a chat.

I'am a quiet girl living a simple life.

PHILOSOPHY
To keep it simple: kindness bring back kindness. So many times there is no need for a huge fight, a big argument. Sometimes, all we need is to think of the other person as a equal, a wanderer in this planet like me and you.
Is hard to say what is right or wrong, who is right or wrong. Everything has a reason. Everything has many sides and points of view. I try to listening. Is hard but I believe is an exercise we need to improve as human being.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted a few guests through my roommate, also in couchsurfing: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/tonyzagato

I have always felt happy for those opportunities. Is nice to share, even if is only a bed, a roof. But is alo kindness and smiles.
Unfortunately, can't have guests anymore since I had a new roommate who's doesn't fell comfortable having stranger at home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Is always a delightful time sharing the opinions, impressions and tips from outsiders. Is always a special moment when you realize that the other is enjoying the experience as much as you are.
In Cambodja, I stayed at a english girl home, and saw the glow in her eyes while listening to her talking about that beautiful people.
In Argentina, I was fulfilled with kindness from my host. In Vietnam, my host took us out for dinner.
Also, heard the impressions of Brazil from a Korean, New Yorker, Argentinian...
Sometimes we realize we share some equals dreams and fears. In the end, we are the same.

Interests

Cultures around the world, reading literature or social studies or urban planning books.
Walking and watching the city life. Standing on the sidewalk so I can watch a marvelous sunset through buildings.
Is a simple life.
I have a great interest in cities and the social aspect of it. I graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning and since college, always had more interest in social urban life than architecture. That's why I choose to work with historical and cultural buildings, preservation and restoration mostly.
Following this line, I have a specialization (postgrad) in Social Psychology and I intend to apply for masters in Urban Anthropology.

Can't say I am a good company for a night of dancing till the feet hurts. Too lazy for that.
But I do enjoy some beer at some cozy bar. And wine, whisky and cachaça.
If you come to São Paulo, I will definitely make you prove some cachaça and a typical cheese bread or coxinha.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite types of music are chill-out, jazz, folks, indie rocks, Brazilian popular music, etc.
To name a few: Florence and the Machine, Moloko, Portishead, Feist, Fiona Apple, Nina Simone, brazilian songs as chorinho, MPB, bossa nova..

Drama and documentary movies with good plot or just fun! Love Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, Lost in translation, Dolls, Almodovar , Tarantino and Chaplin movies and so many others. Although I don't usually watch TV I enjoy some TV shows as House of Cards and Jessica Jones. On a lazy day, I love some silly films like Love Actually.

Literature as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jose Saramago, Victor Hugo Mae (in love) and recently Haruki Murakami. Reading Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 now.
Also urban and social studies about the urban and cultural life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The place i've visited was the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Such a sad and terrifying place. But it was also a place where, like nowhere else, i felt the need (and the hope) for peace on earth.

I can’t forget of others great moments like the sunset in Siem Reap, Cambodja; arriving in Khao San Road, in Bangkok, walking with my friends on the streets of Ouro Preto, Brazil, enjoying the night and our friendship.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Cambodia, Chile, England, France, Japan, Portugal, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
