About Me

Hi, my name is Anastasia (Nastya). I live in Moscow, Russia.
I love meeting new people and learning their languages. I also read a lot. Exploring the world around is my passion, and I try to reflect it in photos, drawings, writings and other things.
I'm a literary researcher currently studying the Dutch literature and the Russian-Dutch cultural relations.
I'm also a beginner-knitter and an animal lover.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I travel sometimes, and while traveling I love to meet new people and learn something from them. I also love learning languages and some practice is essential.

Interests

I love taking photos. Some of them are here: https://500px.com/chukchi

Also love drawing, painting and sketching.
I'm keen on learning languages, I've been learning English, German, Dutch, a bit of Polish and Latin so far.
I really enjoy cooking, for myself or for a company.

But that's honestly only a small part of my interests, because I simply enjoy learning as a process.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to classical music, jazz and blues, sometimes country music. I also love Daft Punk, A-ha, Norah Jones, Coldplay, I Am Kloot, Matisyahu, Bob Dylan, Bobby Darin, Oasis, Shirley Bassy, Youn San Nah, Woodkid, etc.

My favorite Russian authors are Gogol and Chekhov. I think, both of them, and mostly Chekhov, are genuinely watchful, sensitive, compassionate and kind towards Russian people whom they describe and portray. I also enjoy reading J.R. Kipling, S. Maugham, J.R.R. Tolkien, Shakespeare, Desiderius Erasmus and lots, and lots of others. I'm very much interested in the medieval and early modern literature.

And I love watching films. It's hard to pick any favorites, but my passion towards cinema grew after watching "The Great Races", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Irma la Douce" and some really old Soviet films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 16, I spontaneously got interested in parachuting, so once on a weekend I went to jump with an old army parachute from 800 m height.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Russian, and I would love to learn anything new or practice languages, that I've already been studying (Dutch, German, Polish)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook some Russian dishes for you, or just any other nice meal, and make photo portraits.
