About Me

I am originally from Ukraine but currently live in Berlin. In 2011-2014 I lived in Barcelona and since graduating high school in 2014 and 2022 I had been spending my life between Barcelona, Ukraine, and Boston. I am very easy-going, but while I enjoy a good conversation, I also have an independent introvert mode, so I'm eager to be both, depending on the circumstances.

I created and used to own an active horse stable in Ukraine and practiced Natural Horsemanship with my horses.
I've worked in the publishing industry, studied literature, history, and creative writing.

Now I'm still a doer of all things random, trying to publish my first novel, and find my home. I'm also a wine-and-food enthusiast and an equine photographer, sometimes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love literature and I am a bit of an author myself, which is one of the reasons I love to travel and meet diverse people: places and people inspire me. To me, the best way to really ''know'' a place is to live with the locals, so that's why I decided to use Couchsurfing. I also like traveling alone as much as meeting new people.

Interests

I enjoy writing a lot: scripts, stories, novels. I love animals, especially dogs and horses. I love nature so I often choose destinations that showcase natural beauty. I am also very keen on literature, history, and psychology. Sometimes I think that I also love cooking, so I'm eager to learn new unique recipes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books (I can’t talk about books forever, but these are first things that come to mind): Donna Tart (all), Replay by Ken Grimwood, James Baldwin, Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend, Zevin’s Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Lots of classics: Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Austen, Camus, Steinbeck. Hemingway!

Movies: billions, but my top choices would be: American Beauty, Mr. Nobody, Babel, Cashback, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, anything Sorrentino, The Lives of Others, Submarine, Midnight in Paris, Dunkirk and loooots more

Music: vocal jazz, some rock stuff, some folk, some hip hop, some old-school rock/alternative. I’m not good at categorizing music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been thinking about this question for a while and still couldn't find an answer. It's probably my decision to move to Spain when I was 15. But I think it's like asking someone what is their favorite movie: they've watched plenty, but can't recall even one when asked:)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some of the languages I know. I would love to absorb anything that the host is willing to share. I'm very open to any kind of knowledge.
I can share publishing- and horse-knowledge if that is of any use:)
