About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"after the revolution I'll be happy tending geese" (Rosa Luxemburg)

ABOUT ME

I wrote my PhD on homelessness, and I'm teaching courses on urban marginality, social problems and public sociology. I'm working on a research project on labor and the labor movement in Ukraine and doing a video-documentation of labor protests. But actually my childhood dream was not to be a scholar, but a teacher at an orphanage or a kindergarden. So academic career is at times too much for me and I want to travel somewhere far to get some rest from it, which I do occasionally :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I often go to visit friends in other countries. Many of them are members of the couchsurfing community, for example my friend Stefi from Argentina :) I think it is a much interesting way to travel and to get to know other cultures than staying at hotels/hostels.

Interests

I like documentary films, since I myself am trying to do some video-documentation. I like nature - mountains, lakes, oceans. And dynamic cities like New York or Istanbul. I read a lot although lately it has been mainly sociological stuff for my PhD (took up most of my time...) and try to write as well. With my students and friends I like working on collective research projects that are of political significance, and those that combine scientific and artistic dimensions.
