About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I recently had a mountain biking accident which left some nasty scars on my body and a even nastier one on my mind. Contrary to what I believed, shit can happen with no signs, no premonitions and maybe no time to leave a word. For someone who grew up being reckless and fearless, this newfound fear has been annoyingly clipping my wings. So naturally my current mission is to get myself into some deeper shit, hopefully survive it so I could be free again.

PHILOSOPHY

The world needs to become romantic. Then we will find again its original meaning... Endowing commonplace with a higher significance, the vulgar with a mysterious aspect, the familiar with the dignity of the unknown, the finite with an aura of endlessness, I make it romantic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet my kind of people. I hosted some awesome travelers in Toronto and if good karma serves I will find the similar connection while surfing.

Interests

Travelling, reading, camping (able to set up a 4 person tent in 5 mins, mastering BBQ skills), trekking, cooking (you are what you eat, so don't be cheap, fast, easy or fake.)

Music, Movies, and Books

Jack Kerouac, Jon Krakauer, J.K.Rowling. The books I can relate the most are " The Glass Castle" and " A Tree Grows In Brooklyn". The book I read most is "Into Thin Air".

I watch almost all kinds of movies with the exception of romantic ones, most time spent on fantasy/adventure movies and documentaries. Anyone who has the slightest interest in mountaineering should watch "Touching The Void". The last movie I cried over was "Bridge to Terabithia".

I have been told to have terrible taste in music, so I am going to save myself some embarrassment and rather not list my favorite music.

LITTLE RICHARD!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saved a street cat. She had a cut in her tummy and the wound was seriously infected. I called animal rescue, waited with her till a rescue staff showed up and bonded with my little feline friend. Yes I am a certified cat lady, carefully claiming ownership of 2 kittens and counting, although the kittens would grudgingly oppose to such claim, it does not diminish a bit my love for them.

A even more amazing thing I have done other than saving a life is to point out to a homeless guy God may not exist. I should explain, I was sleeping on a park bench one night when a fellow nomad approached and asked me about my religion. It wasn't a particularly interesting conversation till he questioned me what would happen when we die, I, lacking sufficient Spanish skill, scooped some dirt on the ground and gesture to him that would probably be us some day. The guy was obviously in disagree but he appeared more puzzled. A rough estimate he was in his late 60s, I probably saved him a rather disappointing after life trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I might be a terrible teacher (lack of patience) but I am always an eager student and am curious to learn about anything anyone cares enough to teach.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some half decent food I guess, I am not a bad cook.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic, France, Italy, Mexico, Peru, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, China
