Hey guys! :)

I'm Anatoly and I recently finished my Bachelor in Mechanical and Process Engineering in Darmstadt, Germany. During my time in university I often felt like there is literally more to life than getting a degree and a job, so I made the decision to do a gap-year before my Master to not only learn from books, but also from all kinds of different people all around the world.

I decided to fly to Australia now (summer 2017 - ...) because it suits my wishes most: Being far away from my comfort zone, completely standing on my own and still being able to work for my living. I'm grateful for this chance Australia gave me through the working holiday visa and I want to give back as much as I can, be it through wwoofing or maybe helping at an animal shelter, whatever possibility may occur. And get to know real Aussies and their interests altogether.

My philosophy: Nihilism! If nothing really matters, what is there to be afraid of?

In the summer of 2015 i realized, that I'm to anxious of changing habits and going to places I've never been to before and talking to random people.

I met a random guy from egypt, who was new to Darmstadt and just asked me to help him find the way to the grocery store. He travelled a lot and always found new people to hang out with. In a short time he became one of my best friends! And I found out, I could be him. I could as well travel around, overcome boundaries, meet new people and together we can make the world a better place! :)

So now I'm off to new places, overcoming boundaries I set myself for too long ;) And couchsurfing is a great opportunity to met new people and experience the real culture (no matter if its another town, country or continent)! :)

音乐、电影和书籍

Mostly i listed to really every kind of music, from James Blunt to Disturbed, Klaypex to Frank Sinatra. Still my favorite band is and alway will be Rise Against! Especially The Sufferer and the Wittness or Appeal to Reason, but also Wolves, I feel like every song is a soundtrack to a certain moment in life!

When it comes to movies, I love everything the Nolan-brothers did! I don't like straight movies, I appreciate when i can't hint where the story is going right at the beginning. On the other hand I love movies with a hidden meaning, like Darjeeling Limited or A Serious Man.

I read a lot from Paulo Coelho and Dale Carnegie. I'm more into esotericistic books, those about psychology and sociology, than ordinary novels people just "dive into".

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

When you've read why I'm on CS, you certainly remember the Egyptian guy I wrote about? Two of my greatest memories formed when I met him again in Cairo and he took me onto a gang members wedding in the deepest slum of his home town, a place the police doesn't dare to enter. I was greeted there with so much kindness you couldn't imagine!

Another time was when we both drove to the Saudi-Arabian border, chilling at the Red Sea surrounded by a couple beduins, a beautiful beach and no civilization in any direction. It was the most idyllic piece of land, a great place to refuel energy. We spend three days and nights under the stars, talking about everything. I definitely want to go there again!

I compare myself to my beloved Cross-Bike (No, I'm not a transformer!). When I bought it 8 years ago, it was the cheapest available, with absolutely basic components. Throughout the years, with a lot of time and effort, I upgraded it to a level that now only frame and pedals remain original. It will never be a racing or downhill bike, but it can change through possibility and will. Thats how I see myself, upgradable through opportunity up to a certain point.

Additionally keep an open mind and try your best to give back the love and appreciation the world is giving you all the time! Just like Rise Against' logo :)

There is always something new to learn and every person you meet is fighting a battle you don't know about, so always be kind.
