About Me

I am adventurous, curious, and continuously in awe of this crazy world we live in. I try to live my life by the words of Van Gogh. "I would rather die of passion than boredom."
My greatest passion in life is learning and meeting new people. I love nothing more than getting to know others and hear their life stories and experience their culture.

I love anything outdoors. Such as hiking, riding motorcycles, wakeboarding, snowboarding, taking walks, and any and all sports. Especially Volleyball.

I love reading, literature, and writing. Nothing helps us escape reality and learn more about the world better than a good book.

I LOVE music. It is my life and I feel more like myself while at concerts then anywhere else. It is the one time I feel I can really let go and be free.

I am a religious person and do not drink. Which means I usually don't go out to party. BUT i have no cares about whether my friends drink or not. And this doesn't mean that I am boring AT ALL, just that i'm extremely skilled at having fun because I don't need alcohol to do it.

Anyway, that's about everything I can come up with about myself in this moment. Self evaluation can be really really hard.

Oh, and my 3 loves in life are street tacos, the state of Colorado, and Of Monsters and Men. That's important.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel I don't want to stay at resorts or go on tours with tour guides and buy key chains from souvenir shops. I want to truly explore another country and become part of it. I want to discover small coffee shops and browse old book stores. I want to learn different cultures and experience a new view of life through the everyday lives of other people. People who are not like me, but people who I can relate to all the same. I want to take pictures of things and places and people I meet. I want my mind to be in constant awe of life on earth. I want to see things with new eyes. I want to look at a map and not only remember the amazing places I've been to and the things I've seen, but the people who transformed me along the way. I want to come home and realize that I have not come home whole, but have left a piece of me in each place I've been. This is why I am on Couchsurfing. To not only travel, but experience each new location the way it should be experienced.

Music, Movies, and Books

I view Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings as a religious focal point in my life. (K not really, but kinda)

BOOKS
Joan of Arc (Mark Twain), Les Miserables (Victor Hugo), The Good Earth (Pearl S. Buck), I Am Malala (Malala Yousafzai), The Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis), The Name of the Wind Trilogy (Patrick Rothfuss),

MOVIES
LORD OF THE RINGS (so good it gets put on this list twice)
Anything with Audrey Hepburn, Harold and Maude, Slumdog Millionaire, Apocalypto, Ever After, Lilo and Stitch, Amadeus, The Quiet Man, Bridget Jone's Diary, Love Actually, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spice World (Yes, this is the Spice Girl's movie and yes it's the best thing ever)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I served an 18 month mission volunteering and serving the Hispanic community in Mexico City and Denver Colorado. I learned Spanish fluently throughout that year and a half and was completely immersed in their culture and traditions. It was the best time of my life and was what began my love for other languages and cultures.
I learned that although there are so many things that separate all the people in the world, language, culture, religion, and ethnicity, we are all more similar than we are different. The world is full of good people who do so many good things to help their fellow men. I wish that more people could see it that way instead of having fear of the unfamiliar.

Teach, Learn, Share

Through my travels I hope to raise awareness for Human Trafficking and inspire others to reach out within their communities to help those in need.
