Resumen
Sobre mí
Hey I'm Ders. I really enjoy traveling, cooking, and making new friends. Most of my travel efforts of recent have been made to central america as I'm still trying to fully become fluent in Spanish. After I graduate college, I'd like to do some more traveling in other parts of the world. I don't generally cook dishes conventionally but usually just pick from what I have to try and make something tasty. I like to share and listen about life experiences and just learn from conversing with others.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
I'd like to try and avoid pricy lodging arrangements while meeting new people. Honestly this system seems perfect because it not only gets me a neat place to stay but also introduces me to new people whom can I can meet and talk to about anything.

I also enjoy talking about anything that either I or my conversational partner has enough knowledge about to guide a conversation toward some type of learning curve.)

Música, películas y libros
Music: I can listen to most music; I don't like to distinguish specifically what I will or won't listen too because it can blind me to something that I may really like. My favorite artists are hip hop artists though: Kendrick, J Cole, ASAP Rocky, Joey Badass, the Weeknd, Alica Keys, Usher. I also really like the Black Keys and Shakey Graves (non-rap favorites).
Movies: I don't watch too many movies but I usually enjoy movies that invoke a lot of thinking, strategy, and consideration when I really want to watch a movie. Otherwise throw all the dumb, weak-plot movies you want at me and I'll "watch" them but if you ask me about it later don't expect me to remember your favorite line.
Books: I wish I read more. Recent books I have really enjoyed were "Motor City Burning" and "The Cosmic Serpent"They are completely different types of books, and honestly I haven't read enough to know just what I want so I'm open to pretty much any book.
Algo increíble que he hecho
I spent six weeks volunteering for an NGO in Guatemala City called Safe Passage. The program is aimed at helping the impoverished children and families in Zone 3 of the city receive adequate education, food, and safety within their community. During my six weeks I did the smallest of jobs to help as I was a classroom assistant who simply helped keep the classroom in order and helped students with homework. But creating bonds with those kids over the time I was there truly made me want to be able to do more. Since that trip I have returned to see my students again once and will be returning again this year to see them again. It is great to see what potential the students can fulfill but also sad to see that some still fail even with the help of programs. My continued connection with that project has strengthened my dedication to helping underprivileged people.
