About Me

CURRENT MISSION

With some unforeseen detours on the way, continuing riding my bike to Portugal: https://andersdurcheuropa.wordpress.com/. (& if you want to follow my biking ‘live’, so to speak: https://www.strava.com/athletes/anders_akesson).

ABOUT ME

Sometimes somewhat shy, & sort of ‘absentminded’. Filled with a cosy northern sort of melancholy, that do not see the point of talking if there is nothing to say. & quite conveniently without a phone.

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm..., let me think... maybe ‘Wonder said the Flounder, if Pike is a Fish’.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lovely.

Interests

Peaches, Ladybirds, & English Roses. Sexy composts. Lovely allotments (self-sustained living is cool). & of course, not to be forgotten, the 3 Bs: 3 Bikes, 3 Books, & 3 Beers – Microbrewed ones, ‘Hirsch Zwickel’ (but any kind of Zwickel, will do), & IPAs of course [Yummy-Yummy, & Yippee-Yea].

PS. Am sort of slow in the morning. First in my usual morning haze, which later turns into a lovely tea haze, & am lucky if I am out of the house before noon. ‘Beeroholic’ (though ‘Beerophil’ sounds better), chronic over-spender, & a continuous ‘time-optimist’. If I say ‘in an hour’, it usually takes me two.

PPS. Journeying old-fashionably phonelessly.

Music, Movies, and Books

The book that I wanted to take with me was David Austin’s ‘The Rose’, a thick hardback with lovely pictures, bigger than an A4, & longer than 300 pages. It fitted easily in the rucksack. But then the rest of the bare necessities did not. Hmm…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sometime a long time ago:
Interrailing through Europe alone for 7 weeks at 17, living mainly abroad since 1997 (Geneva (CH), Paris (FR), Florence (IT), Zurich (CH), Kreuzlingen (CH)), & my last work as a Sitter (DE: ‘Sitzwache’) at Uniklink Balgrist, & USZ (University Hospital Zurich) – 5 years full of incredible experiences, both in the positive & the negative sense – a reflection of life, in short.

Currently:
Being here & now.

At a yet unspecified day in the future:
Host myself, & maybe so in a small cottage with a large garden in the area of Rijeka (HR). To me, there is everything that I look for, (& again to me) beautiful nature, high hills, sea, & the possibility of doing everything that I have ever dremt of – through the garden (brimming with ‘English Roses’, of course) the possibility of a (partly) self-sustained way of living.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning of & from different ways of living.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Beer, cheese, & my life.

NB: Please do not send me friends requests if we have not met in person – will invariably decline them.
