About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life one day at a time.

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Anderson!

I'm Brazilian cook, and a Civil Engineering student currently in love with the world. Since this relationship is going to last, I intend to meet as many beautiful people, cultures and places this life can offer me, and also share that with anyone with the same passion :D

I was born and raised here in the capital. At the age of 7 my family had to move to the Washington, DC, for a year because of my father's work. That's when I first got in touch with the English language. When I was 16, I took part in this international exchange program and spent another year in a small town in Tennessee. And my last long-term experience abroad was in 2014, when I was 20 and got to live in Dublin, Ireland, for 10 months. It was during that period where I learned a lot about myself and discovered my passion for cooking.

Now, back to Brasília, I can show you guys around the city and its many beautiful monuments, and also tell some of Brazil's story, but specifically the story of our capital! Regarding accommodation things are not 100% set since I don't live by myself anymore. But as time goes by all the information shall be updated :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to learn as much as possible from the world, to share and to give. I believe people here are not just a "free hostel", everyone has a story to tell, an experience to share, and that is what makes this an awesome social network!

Interests

I love the idea of exploring, so every time I go to a new country I can't help but get excited. New cultures, people, and languages are all included as one of the most exciting things for me.

I also consider myself an active person. Love to exercise and play sports. Played basketball for many years of my life. Of course being 1,96m helped (6'6" for the American friends) but I really enjoy the sport. Now I have been practicing Muay Thai for two years and simply love it! Yoga has also been a new and rising interest!!

Coming to think about it, I can consider myself a foodie, even though my trips are not planned around this. But every time I get to a new place it is impossible not to imagine if my taste buds might come across some amazing food... :9

Being in contact with nature is also another must have for my trips. Breathtaking views are capable of changing our perspective of our world and what we do to it, so let's take care of our environment!

Animals! I love animals. Before all the engineering hard work I thought about maybe becoming a biologist or a vet and work with jungle animals. But today I just find it lovely enough to pet and hug pets of all kinds and have some good doses of Animal Planet and National Geographic whenever possible haha

Music, Movies, and Books

Classic rock lover. Tending to some hard rock and metal every once in a while
Some of my favorite bands: Queen, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, System of a Down, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Capital Inicial, Titãs, Paralamas do Sucesso, Skank, Legião Urbana.

Extremely into medieval, scifi, fantasy movies and books.
Big fan of Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones, all of Dan Brown's books, The Holy Grail trilogy by Bernard Cornwell, and recently started reading some Sherlock Holmes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently the most amazing thing I've done was watching the moon, stars, and constellations on the desert in Morocco. Definitely an unforgettable experience!

Also watched the last 2011 and 2013 Rock In Rio held in Brazil and got to see great bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Motörhead, Slayer, Angra, Sepultura, and Avenged Sevenfold live!

Getting to climb to the top of Arthur's Seat, in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was one of the most amazing views I had seen in a while, and also experienced a great moment of reflection while being up there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I just got certified as a cook. I can't deny that it's my passion. So I can teach a few dishes and some tricks around the kitchen!
At the moment my specialties are M&M cookies, chicken strips on a blue cheese and mushroom sauce, and my delicious garlic cauliflower made specially for vegetarian friends :D

I also love new languages! I can teach some Portuguese and English. At the moment improving my Spanish and learning Italian is a goal :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking, so it would be lovely to share what I know and also to cook new things. Every once in a while it is great not to be the only one celebrating a recipe that went well! (Or mourning one that went wrong... Haha...) I'm also very organized, so no headaches regarding my mess, because it will be cleaned, and food will be replenished :D

I'm also a very open person to various topics of conversation. Sometimes I can get a bit carried away, so no offence taken when told to slow down!
