About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hitchhiking around the world

ABOUT ME

We are two guys who decided to quit with traditional life of getting a job and being a part of that cruel system. We want to find out more of the great world we are all sharing. Our mission for now is to hitchhike from Home (Germany) to Singapore. We're curious to see a lot of countries and get to know different attitudes and lifestyles of people from all over the world.
We are both 24 years old, finished the high school in 2010. Andi started studying german / history but cancelled it when Erik told him in summer 2013 about his plans and started working in a call center to save money. Actually we made up the plan in 2011 together (after a one week hitchhike trip), but more like a unrealistic idea.
Erik was in Canada for one year (Oct. 2011 - Oct. 2012) and after that started working in his home town as a server. That was the best quick opportunity to save as much money as possible, living at moms again. But he hated the job and the town and got really ill. After he was laid off from hospital in June 2012 we decided to do this trip in exactly one year.
We were never waiting longer for something.
The 9 month before the trip Erik was also working in a call center, but in Prague.

PHILOSOPHY

We are grateful for every day we have here on earth. Life is a gift we want to treat with humility and openness. The purpose of life is simply to enjoy that gift and be happy about it every day.
We believe that everyone has it's lessons to learn you you didn't learn in previous lives. No one is perfect. But everyone is. We don't make differences, because we are all the same.
Life is not about possessions. It is so transitory, that the real value lies in good memories and experiences, things you have learned, what no one can take from you. Having good relationships and a positive attitude to new things is what matters for us.
Be honest, polite and humble but go you own way and don't let someone tell you what is right and wrong. Find out for yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are looking forward to share a lot of different stories of traveling. We also loved hosting people when we had an own flat.
Right now we're looking for every kind of accommodation. We don't care about the quality. We'd like to surf your couch, the ground or even a backyard for our Tent.
We like to make music sometimes and like to help others where we can. We just try to live every day like it would be the last one.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We got our own profiles as well which can show a bit of our travel history.

Interests

Our biggest interest is clearly traveling. As well as documenting the journey by pictures and texts. Besides that we like to make and listen music. We love great views from hills or mountains, so we like hiking and enjoying nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2011 we did our fist hitchhiking trips together. First of all we went from our home town through Germany and Netherlands to Amsterdam. There we had a great week and hitchhiked back almost same way we came. This first experience made us addicted. Only 2 weeks later we hitchhiked from Frankfurt (Oder) through entire Poland to Kaunas, Lithuania. That was so much different then the trip before, it was a big adventure. Our first couchsurfing experience we had in Kaunas. Real beautiful city and amazingly friendly people.
On our way back we hitchhiked over Gdansk which is truly nice as well. Not knowing what comes next, no idea where to sleep this night, This adventure was just so much fun for us, that afterwards we looked on the map for the farthest possible point to hitchhike on the Eurasian ground plate. We said: "Hey dude, one day let's hitchhike to fucking Singapore!"
In summer 2012 Andi visited Erik in Canada and we made the biggest road trip of our lives so far. In 3 and a half weeks we drove 15.000 kilometers, from Calgary up to the Yukon and Alaska (where we climbed a mountain and did a white water rafting trip), down through entire BC over Vancouver and Seattle to the coast of Oregon. We stayed along the cost all the way to San Francisco. There we had amazing unforgettable 24 hours. We continued through the Yosemite National Park and the Death Valley to Las Vegas. Our great nature trip ended with a parachute jump over the desert of Nevada.
This vast road trip was for both of us the most amazing thing we have done so far, including all the amazing things we have seen there.
