Hello there and welcome to our profile! ☺️ Our names are Andjela and Mladen, and we have two daughters, 6-year old Irina, and 3-year old Ana. Around New Year's we're expecting our third child ☺️ . We opened this profile when we were just a young couple living together (the 'age' of the profile is somewhere in between our ages 🙂 ). Since then we have been hosting people on and off, and surfing occasionally when we travel.

Now a bit something about us...

Andjela: I'm a quite outgoing person, a bit crazy and sometimes too much honest. I love coffee, tattoos (currently I have 6), running (ran three half marathons so far), sunny days and spending time with my family. Also I am really talkative and have a loud voice 😄 (now you can't say that I didn't warn you! 😆 ).

Mladen: I am a really calm person (that's how I handle Andjela 🙂 ). I love reading books (specially about history) and watching series and movies. I'm not a big fan of Hollywood movies. I like longs walks in the park, hiking in nature and going camping. Also I love learning about different cultures and collecting fridge magnets 🙂.

We both work during the week, but we don't mind hosting people then, so feel free to send us a request for any day, and depending on our schedule we'll try to host you. We are generally a busy family, with a lot of outdoor activities, but we also love to host people to our flat.
Andjela works from home, so she has a bit more flexibility.

Since we have children our day starts early, around 7 am. Please be aware of this before sending us a request. Our apartment is not that big, and you'll be sleeping in the living room, so we can't avoid you, and for sure we'll wake you up (sorry in advance).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is amazing! It's a fantastic way to connect with people and learn something more about different cultures of the world.

We participate in Couchsurfing and by hosting and by surfing and we love it both ways. Nowadays we're hosting surfers not just because of us but also because of our children. We believe that it would be great for them to grow up being a part of the Couchsurfing community. They would have the chance to see from really young age that we are all people, no matter where we come from 🙂.

Interests

“We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like.”

We are two very different personalities but the above sentence sums up one common philosophy that we share. We don't care about over-spending and showing-off to anyone, and we believe that "things" which bring you the biggest joy in life are free. Yes, you need money to buy food, but sharing a meal with a friend doesn't cost, yet it's much more valuable 🙂.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
We listen to pretty much everything, from classical music to rock and metal (except Serbian turbo folk music, that we can't stand!). We like to go to concerts together.
Favorite bands are Metallica and Hladno Pivo (Croatian band). Andjela also likes Manu Chao, Dubioza Kolektiv (band from Bosnia and Herzegovina) and S.A.R.S (Serbian band) (Mladen doesn't dislike them but neither is fond of them).

Movies and TV series:
Often we argue about the movies we want to watch together 😄 . Andjela hates violence in movies, especially if it's towards children and she never watches horror movies, while Mladen sometimes watches movies like Saw and TV series like Fargo and The Sopranos (which he thinks is the best TV series ever made).
We both don't like the Hollywood industry so much and prefer European movies. Some of our favorite movies that we watched together are La vita E Bella, The life of Brian, Dogville, Schindler's list, Dogma, Underground (movie from Kusturica). Our all time favorite TV series is Friends and we have watched it like 3 times so far.
Also, Andjela LOVES cartoons like The sword in the stone, WALL-E, Beauty and the beast, Mulan, Dumbo, etc.

Books:
We are both bookaholics. Our taste in books is similar, one difference is that Andjela sometimes reads also light literature (like Agatha Christie) while Mladen mostly likes heavy stuff :). Some of Mladen's favorite writers are Tomas Mann, Michel Houellebecq and Fyodor Dostoyevsky while Andjela likes books of Ivo Andric, Douglas Adams, Dostoyevsky and loves the Harry Potter series 🙂 .

We can teach you how to make kachamak. It's healthy, super fast and easy, great for breakfast or dinner or even lunch if you're really lazy that day 😄
